Roddick's looking sharp so far.

Pete Sampras is sitting in the audience looking like a million bucks.

Great job by Andy to fight off four break points in that last game, although Federer doesn't look as unbelievably sharp as he usually does, but he's still playing very well.

Federer missed three very close shots that held up under review that last game that could have won it.

Roddick breaks him and takes the first set!!

We've got a match, folks!

Roddick may have blown it.

Four set points in the tiebreak and Federer comes back to win.

Andy needed that set in the worst way to throw all the pressure on Federer. Huge momentum shift now.

wow, can't believe he came back from 6-2 down. this could be over.

Got to give Andy some points for staying tough during this third set. He could have easily folded after that debacle in the tiebreak.

Andy's got such a strong serve today, as long as he keeps serving so well, even if Roger wins, it's going to be extremely tough the whole way.

Ive been impressed about what Roddick has done with his game to try to get better and win these kinda matches.

Federer is just SO solid though.

Overall Wimbledon was pretty damn good, even without Nadal

Oh shit, Federer can break serve now.

This is not what Roddick needs.

Andy holds facing a break point again.

This is really shaping up to be a great match. The best match I've ever seen Roddick play.

Andy fought off four breaks in a game in the first set.

That really defined the match up until the tiebreaker meltdown.

He looks alot more tired than Federer right now.

He's putting so much on his serves, he's inevitably going to wear down.

Federer looks like he's kicked into another gear in this set, although McEnroe keeps saying Andy's in the best shape he's every been in, so maybe he's conserving energy.

But Andy's put up very little opposition the last few Federer serves. He has no answer, and Federer's serves seem to be getting better as the match progresses.

Yea you see why Nadal is the only guy who really can make Federer look bad, just cause Nadal is such an athletic freak.
Roddick is much better now than he has ever been, and I can't wait to see him take a run at the US Open

All bets are off on what happens if this goes to a fifth.

Speaking of bets, though, what was the money line for Roddick on this. Had to have been at least +600.

Fifth set
Game 1: Federer gets the easy hold, but he's going to have to break Roddick to win this match. There's no tiebreaker in the fifth set.

Game 2: It's 30-30 again on Roddick's serve. Federer's certainly getting some looks. A running backhand from Federer clips the tape and lands in as Roddick was charging for the volley. Break point for Federer. Roddick digs deep for a first serve, and Federer's return sails wide and long. He bombs another down the center line, then coaxes a backhand error for the hold.

Game 3: Federer rolls to a hold, getting a point on a shot that clipped the sideline. Roddick challenged, lost and was not happy about it.

Game 4: Roddick holds easily. Who'll crack in this fifth set?

Game 5: I'd barely finished typing that before Federer finishes up his quick hold. On serve.

Federer looks like he's about to land that knockout punch every now and then, and Roddick just wriggles out of it.

My feeling is that Roddick will eventually run out of luck and Federer will win, but who the fuck knows when. This could end up 25-23 or something insane like that.

I feel so bad for roddick, man. Only time he was broken all day. He has to feel awful right now, especially after that 2nd set tie break.

So how many best matches ever from different sports are we gonna keep gettin? This has been a few months of a great run of games

yea it was really cool to actually see the 2 of them go through that. Roddick had every right to be upset and he handled himself incredibly. I really never rooted much for Roddick more than cause he was on of the Americans, but after this, I'm really gonna be rooting for him goin forward

It looked like the shadows kinda fucked him up towards the end. Didn't seem to bother Roger. Andy just had some real miscued shots in the final games. I'm sure fatigue had something to do with it too

English is his second language, too. I'm sure he was just trying to put together coherent sentences.

He's not a humble guy, but as good as he is, he doesn't need to be. I thought he was respectful towards Roddick, although, I loved Roddick's little jab about the five titles.

I'm pulling for Andy. Hopefully he can channel these last two matches into a prolonged run of really good play.

You could see Roddick slowly fading. Federer was consistently slogging away on serve and Roddick was slowly starting to allow more and more dueces. And then that hard to watch final game where he kept on mis-hitting. It's a shame it had to end that way. It would be crushing to whoever lost.

Did anyone else catch the story on one of the news channels about how wimbledon is sexist because only the "hot women" played on center court for the tourney until the finals?
I saw it on the tv at the gym..and was like wtf?

What an amazing match!

I've seen Roddick play Federer several times and never expected he could hang with him let alone push him around for part of the match. I think Andy has matured greatly and he's much more likeable. It killed me to see the tears in his eyes, he handled it all very well. I'll be pulling for him in the Open.

And did anyone notice it was the first "gruntless" match we've seen in a long time??? It was so nice. Federer is like a robot. It never looks like he gets tired. Does he even sweat? He looked like he just walked on to the court during the trophy presentation.
