I got my xbox back and it does have hdmi capabilities. Now, does hdmi carry audio and video? Or do I still need to use my components for the sound and leave off the video wire and run the hdmi cord?

HDMI is video only... for now. they are changing it in the next version, but that is not going to be any help for you.

You can use HDMI for video, and the component sound for the sound.

Exactly what I thought. I was to lazy to pull out the tv and check to see what my ps3 had hooked into the tv as it has hdmi

I'm pretty sure HDMI carries both digital sound and video.

Now I can't remember how I have my home stuff setup. But I swear I don't have any audio cables running.

Hdmi produces true hd video correct?
As aposed to using the hd filter on the older 360 components?

At least for my PS3 and Cablebox it is only HDMI no audio cables at all.

Yeah, I knew I wasn't crazy. It's why HDMI is awesome; one cord.

HDMI is both digital video and sound. It will support up to 7:1 sound via the cable. The current version 1.3 supports 1080P and digital THX sound as long as both the source and the destination support the same.

i was wrong, and others were right, it does carry audio.

I have my PC hooked up via HDMI, but out from the DVI. in this setup, obviously, it does not carry sound. But for a DVD player or anything, it will.
