I know 2 of the Rangers that were snipers in Mogadishu and my unit was the quick reaction force that went in to save the Rangers.

Alpha Company (A Co) 2-14 Infantry were the soldiers that fought along side the Rangers, Delta and the SEALs.

I'm with Rooster on this one. I may be biased since I deal with veterans almost daily, but with the military stretched as thin as it is, and everyone looking to downsize it even more- Clinton was not the best thing to happen to our country. I think "Sex Between the Bushes" is very accurate.

Rooster, who is Les Aspin?


Les Aspin was the Secretary of Defense at the time.

He did not allow the Army to deploy BRADLEY Fighting Vehicles to the region. Bradley's are the Army's mid-range tank.

The fact that the Bradley's were not authorized in the region is disgusting. The Bradley's could have rolled up the streets unhindered by enemy fire and could have saved the Rangers and the 10th Mountain Division soldiers from that ambush.

Les Aspin believed that the Bradley's showed too much force in the region! They had THE RANGERS and DELTA FORCE in the area....YOU DON'T GET MUCH MORE FORCE!!! They are Special Forces Commando units...not peace keepers!

Les Aspin was forced to resign after the battle and he is another black mark on Clinton's list of bad mistakes that helped to weaken this country.


Read the book BLACK HAWK DOWN by Mark Bowden.

I have first hand knowledge of the men that were there.I was in the unit on active duty.

The 2 SNIPERS that I know are doing well.

Rooster, what do you think of China's military power. One of my coaches was in the US Army and said China could beat us in a war. I told him about America's unquestioned air and naval superiority, but he didn't listen. This movie was incredible!! One of the best war flicks I've seen in a long time. No cheesy sub-plots like Pearl Harbor..just pure, intense ass kicking. It was so real it scared the hell out of me. And LOTS of hot men in uniform :)

The Chinese Air Force is like a museum. Officially, they have thousands of planes, but how many of those (at least those used for troop transport) are relevant to the 21st century? The advantage the USA has is that in a war situation like that is our capitalist system leaves us with many airlines. If WWIII ever breaks out (God forbid) we have the power to seize commercial planes and use them to deploy troops. The commercial airlines of China cannot compare with that of the United States. China may be able to deploy many troops, but do you think they would be able to deploy as many as the US? I doubt it.
