Ed McMahon was in somebody's shadow for 50 years. Yeah he had his Star Search and Publisher's Clearinghouse stuff, but that's really nor the markings of a huge celebrity. I'll admit, just on longevity he gets a lot, but you have to understand that Farrah Fawcett was an absolute phenomenon in the 70s. Also, there's the circumstances of the deaths. McMahon was like a million, so Farrah's death just seems more tragic and newsworthy.

To deny her cultural impact and refer to her as "some slut on a poster" is pretty ignorant.

I'm too young to know Abraham Lincoln but I don't dismiss him as "some tall dude in a stupid hat who got shot."

Saying Ed McMahon is bigger than Farrah because of longevity is like saying some guy who's been a small town mayor for 50 years is more important politically than the U.S. President.

i'll admit ignorance, i wasn't alive in the 70s and don't know shit about farrah except the poster. but i would think "Heres Johnny" would be more recognizable as an iconic cultural thing than the poster...but i'm not passionate about either answer. If people who are more in the know say she was bigger i'll take your word for it
