I have heard a few different reasons about this, but am looking for legitimate answers.
Is it a bad idea to have your Paypal hooked up to your bank account? I hear some people say it is risky, like if someone could get into your bank account and steal your money or whatever. I find it extremely convienient since I can pay for your purchases directly though.
Is there any real risk to your bank account if you use paypal hooked directly to your bank account?
I need to know asap. Thanks.

I've never had an issue with the paypal service being linked to my bank account.
There is a risk with any online shopping, however with many major retailers now embracing paypal, I find it very unlikely that there is any more of a risk. In fact, I'd say that it is far more secure than it was a few years ago.

Thanks, I assumed as much, and I also assumed that if it was risky that we would have herd have unsafe Paypal is, right? I wonder why people think it is unsafe? Its probably a little safer to deal through your credit card, but as far as being paid for selling stuff goes, its a lot easier for me, plus the credit card bill thing.

I really like paypal.
Selling is nice, but it takes a couple days to transfer any money from your paypal account to your checking account.
This can be remedied easily by getting a paypal debit/credit card. You can spend your paypal earnings with plastic.

no problem here either.
paypal is to big to let itself fall to hackers.
could you imagine what would happen to THEIR business is that happen. They would fold.
So i am sure they have a lot of money into the security of the site.
Also they have their own dispute center which i have heard works very well.
I have bought from ebay and other forum members with paypal.
its awesome

paypal will auto detuct. The only problem Ive noticed is, if you have any fees for selling, they will take it from your account without even sending an email to tell you until after they took it.

Agree with all above. Haven't had a problem in 4 years of use.
Other nice thing was on a recent transaction, seller refused to ship item even though I paid. I was able to dispute it with PayPal and got my money back a few days ago.

What do you mean? But the thing is, I find it convienient because I do not need multiple accounts. When you say get another checking account, are you referring to having an account in a different bank so it doesn't trace back to your other account so a hacker would have a harder time getting into your real regular accounts? Explain, I need to know.

There have been situations where sellers have been scammed on ebay, and the scammers knew exactly how to file disputes with PayPal to have them decide in their favor.
When this happens with high value items, it can be a pain in the ass, as PayPal will just yank that money from your bank account with no warning to refund the buyer.
It happened to one of my coworkers who sold a $1500 laptop online. $1500 yanked from his account and couldn't get it back! Here is a forum for Paypal stories. I won't link my bank account for this reason, I have a PayPal debit card that I can get the $$$ out with.

In 6+ years I have never had a problem. I had to do one dispute resolution which PayPal helped me with and gave me my money back. Good customer service made me come back to them.
