The Pacific

'The Pacific' is HBO’s $200 million, ten-part miniseries about Marines fighting the Japanese in World War II. Essentialy a companion to the brilliant miniseries Band of Brothers.

Produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, the story is based on the memoirs Helmet for My Pillow and With the Old Breed as well as the life of John Basilone, one of the greatest heroes in Marine Corps history.

It will begin airing at the beginning of next year. If its nearly as good as BOB, it will be amazing. Certainly looks great from that trailer. Can't wait.

HBO is so far ahead of any other channel when it comes to the mini series genre. Band of Brothers, Generation Kill and From The Earth To The Moon are just a few of my favorites.

Their miniseries are the only redeeming thing until that new David Simon series gets going. It's sad that their flagship show is now awful dreck like True Blood.

I can't wait for the miniseries about the JFK and Lincoln assassinations. HBO should just stick to doing historical/current affairs series and miniseries.

i really can't fucking wait. I hope they touch on just the Navy. I told my grandfather about this miniseries over the weekend, while we watched Band Of Brothers, and he was fucking excited to see it. hopefully, he lives that long to see it!
