we are redoing our kitchen and are thinking about we want the floor plan to look. our kitchen lady is ok but she has very little imagination outside of a basic boring layout.
does anyone know any home architect software i can buy?
id like to be able to experiment with appliances, counters and islands virtually to see how theyll look, to give me a better idea of what the finished kitchen will look like.
I redid my kitchen, and before I did I looked into this.
there really wasn't much that was reasonably priced.

I'll check at work to see if I still have one.
This is what the design companies use:

It's expensive.
I think I tried Punch Home design, but it's more for whole house design.
besides all sorts of autocad, I have
Floorplan 3d design suite 11 (http://www.cadinfo.net/editorial/floorplan.htm)
Kitchendraw 4.5 too bad, but i think it was Euro software, so if you are looking to d/l kitchen appliances etc, you wont be able to- you'll have to draw your own.
looking at links there may be free versions, but i
Punch Home design 4000 (http://www.punchsoftware.com/products/as4000.htm) not too bad, but more whole house, and between $150-$200
sweet home 3d which seems to be an open source project. (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=962430)
since this is free, it is probably worth playing around with
I think HGTV has software available for like 25-30 bucks. I never used it before though.

Check out Vectorworks (http://www.nemetschek.net/products/index.php) it's not cheap, but it's a great piece of software I use it pretty much everyday.
