hello bright tech savvy friends
gotta odd one that I turn here for assistance. My email service is aol. Yes i realize its the 21st century but Ive used it since 1992 and it does not cost me anything anymore.
Heres the problem. Aol will not load on my home computer. It appears to be something wrong with the line coming into the house.Internet aqccess is fine I know that sounds very weird but I can load it fine at the office and down here in RI. My daughter just got her colleg lap top and the Aol wont load there either. I cant load theAol program NOR the website I keep getting an error message that says something to the effect that it is unavailable.
Any suggestions
Please dispense with help and not advice to leave AOL
THANKS IN ADVANCE

do you have an AOL cd
that you can install/reinstall
on your computer?
are you sure you ran it
on your computer and
your daughter's?
if you are able to get
to internet explorer
type in www.aol.com
and it should bring you
to the aol home page
where you can sign in
to get your email

What OS do you use?
What browser and version do you use?
Any other weird issues with web sites? Visit several in you favorites before answering.
When was the last time you visited AOL?
Open a gmail account and forward your AOL mail there, see if you get it if all else fails.

Agreed, this would help in judging the issue.

Do you need aol loaded on the computer to access the email? Maybe you can just use your browser and go to aol.com then access your mail that way. Its not the entire files of aol you need just the mail part.

IE? Lol dl firefox and I bet it works. People who use IE as a daily browser are asking for trouble.
My gf
has vista using IE and there are times I can't access certain sites, I've turned off internet protection and everything and they still don't work, I'm sure there's a simple answer but using firefox is easier.
I keep ie around for rim and other sites that need it.

So what exactly does your browser say when you click this link?
http://www.aol.com/
if it is happening with more than one website it sounds like it could be an ISP issue. This just started happening today?

What security software do you have on it and have you loaded all of Window's updates?
Were you able to check your email at home yesterday from the same computers?
Looks like this site works fine.
For some reason I still have this picture from 2002 when I was in the midst of cleaning, rearranging and painting my room.

Used all mine back then for shooting targets, I'll have to scan the picture.

Sounds like it may be the ISP or your firewall so...
Disable windows firewall (it really is shit)
Power cycle Modem
Power cycle router
Try again
Do this. If it does not work call your ISP first because AOL sucks but may have a server near your area out which is not unheard of.
Then get a Gmail account and forward all your aol email to the gmail and forget that site ever existed.

Try setting up an email client -- any will do -- to access your AOL account via the POP or IMAP servers.
