Hearing the Talking Heads on the show just now made me remember a discussion I had with some friends a little while back. I think of all the bands now not touring, broken up or dead I would like to see the Talking Heads just once. I saw David Byrne recently and while it was pretty good, I would have much rather preferred attending one of their concerts in the 80s.

Which artist or band would you choose?

I think we had this thread before but my obvious choice would be the Replacements. My second choice would be Uncle Tupelo. The band I wish could reunite would be the Clash.

Umm, I guess that would be up to you.

I've seen Malkmus but never saw Pavement. That's another one I just thought of...

Beatles, Grateful Dead, The Band...

Why am I so young?

You know I was having this conversation with Rhino over the weekend. I suck at music. I like it a lot. I have a terrible memory. He can hear any part of a song and know the artist and song title (to anybody, even artists he doesn't like). I only know a song if I hear the lyrics and then am not sure if I know the title. Ugh.

I got a specific show I wish I could have seen: Black Flag w/ Venom at City Gardens, Trenton, NJ 1986, even if both of those bands were on the downslide by that point.

And the songs werent different IN THE SLIGHTEST. You coulda played the CD really loud and it woulda been the same shit

I saw Big Star two years ago, so I'm pretty sure that they're back together somewhat. Chris Bell wasn't part of the band, though.

Punk reunions are always disappointing. I saw the Bad Brains reunion, and HR's torn apart shitty vocals ruined the experience. His voice doesn't even hold up for the dub tracks, and he didn't attempt to give any of the hardcore vocals, choosing to kind of just do a scatman version of Pay to Cum.

Minor Threat would be awesome, but there's always something peculiar about seeing a 40-year-old man singing songs about youthful ire. Also Ian's voice was starting to trail off towards the end of Fugazi, and based on seeing his latest projects, he'd have no chance to perform as Minor Threat in the incarnation that fans want.

That said, I'd love to have caught the Clash somehow.

The singing brakeman. I found the Bear Family box set at a used store, and also reading a book about his influence on various genres. Amazing shit.
