View Full Version : When Ron Loses His Cool...
...do you find it riveting or uncomfortable?
Once in a blue moon Ronnie will get fed up with the way the show is going - the production (or lack thereof), a bad guest, etc. and absolutely blow his stack.
Some fans I've spoken with say they find it extremely awkward and hard to listen to, like when they were a little kid and their father was screaming at their mom.
I like hearing that kind of passion and emotion and most of the time I find Ron's anger justified.

Problem is, Ron never lost it. He's always as cool as the other side of the pillow, daddio.

Uncomfortably riveting. I dare not walk away from my radio.

That's why I like the show as much as I do. I know some of it's a work, but I'll take it over fake ass radio any day. I'm a fan of the realism, if I wanted to hear some brushed under the rug hack shit, I'll tune in to top 40.

i don't like it a nearly as much as jokes or bits or guests, so i voted 'awkward'. there was this one moment when he blew up with pepper because the wrong song was played... something like it was the song 'war' but ron was looking for the group 'war'. it was uncomfortable to listen to.
i get that feeling of parental anger too, but its the kind i would get when i did something bad lol
i remember a couple of times where ronnie was a little pissed, like the time that kid came in with his fists clenched, or that time (was it on jfk?) where one of the higher ups was saying shit about fez or something and ron just ripped into him.
anyway, while i find ron to be ultra cool, i think if someone had it coming he would smash their face in like that dude got in fight club. then he would lite up a cigar and walk off into the horizon.

Both. I like that he cares so much but i reminds me of some bad times in the past -- if that makes sense. I would turn it off but I will cringe.

I love it, but it still frightens me.

i don't see it as that, it seems like it's twice an hour, every hour, everyday. to me it's justified, just my opinion.

I love any sort of on-air fight and I really love when Ron just starts yelling at the staff.

it makes me feel like nothing on the show is a bit and that ron is probably half of the rude n rudes that post about fez.

I find myself listening intently.
I don't like it but, I don't stop listening.

For the most part I don't mind it at all, but sometimes he makes everyone else there uncomfortable, and the show loses some steam.
But again, I've never heard a time when his anger isn't justified.

Ron getting riled up and putting the boots to his staff is radio gold.

I wouldn't want him to hide real emotion.Fez doesn't.
he went off about something the other day and when they got back into discussion he was saying "fuck" about twelve times per sentence.I'm immune to it but my kid came inside, looked at my computer and asked"What is that?"
I said"It's Ron."
She replied"Oh,it has to be.Fez doesn't talk like that."

It's very uncomfy to listen to and I always picture people in the studio just scared as hell.
One thing I'll always remember is that time ron went off on the pd and someone in the background said "Nobody wants to even move out there" lol

It's good to hear every once in a while, it shows that Ron does care about the direction of the show and is trying to correct it.

Ron lost it once about a year and a half ago when their XM studio was being remodeled and had to do the show in a smaller studio ... Ron felt that he was surrounded by a bunch of retards and started yelling then walked off the show for a couple of minutes.

The only time I think he really gets mad is when the listeners piss him off. Most of you (us) can do the man a service and just listen.

I don't not enjoy it as far as the show goes, but I do feel when he looses it like when you were little and daddy finally lost it and went off on you and your siblings.

I was hoping more calls would come in bashing Fred and MLC today. He was two phone calls away from losing it. Sorry Ronnie no one finds them the least bit entertaining.

i don't like it when Ron loses it. I'm afraid the day will come when he'll decide he's had enough and finally throw in the towel. The prospect of a world without Ron and Fez scares the shit out of me!

I come from a household that sounded like Ron's on-air explosions every time we'd sit down for dinner. As such, I feel nostalgia, a creeping feeling of something like love, and the warmth of the hearth whenever he loses his temper. I never turn the "dial" when it happens.

The maddest I've heard Ron was during Fez's "Blue Period" and a caller started trashing him and then started going after Ron about it being a work.

The visual of Ron running down the street holding a rotary phone over his head chasing someone never EVER fails to make me giggle.

It's not that bad when Ron loses his cool.
But when that Radio Rattlesnake gets out, things can get really scary... :glurps:
