JFC is either the best show HBO's ever done, or the worst. There's no middle there.
And I'm not sure which it is.

I went with Curb but Six Feet Under is probably the one.

Curb's definitely the best comedy show they've ever done.
Either that or "Mr. Show", but that was sketch comedy.

Are you saying it's always been bad or it gets bad? Because I'm watching it for the first time now and am in the 3rd season and I think it's a great show.

you are in the first half of season 3 im gonna guess. Enjoy it now. It will very quickly become a terrible show, one that you invested so much in you will not be able to stop watching anyway

its hard to say...i know at some point i liked the show..now its a show i watch but every episode i hate. My theory is that its a show that has potential for being a good show but i don't think it ever was. Like, "let me watch it this week i think its finally going to be good"
I was just on youtube watching skits from "Hardcore TV" (i was surprised anyone remembered it)..boy is that show bad. Anyway, I do have a question..is this Tim Blake Nelson from "O Brother Where Art Thou"?

no i know it is, i was just talking about verbal responses in the actual thread
No Lucky Louie?
And let's be honest - The Sopranos BLEW after about 3 seasons. Dragged on and on.
The best one ever was the Larry Sanders show.

Band of Brothers is the greatest miniseries of all time. That should be on the list. But nothing beats The Wire.

Curb is currently my favorite HBO show, but The Sopranos was the king of that network and easily the best series I've ever watched. Check the ratings folks, it's a slaughter.

seriously, with "The Sopranos" i can't go past the "Big Pussy death" episode
my problem with the show was, it was a show based on "whats going to happen next?" instead of things actually happen. Like, one thing would happen per season that was interesting..everything else was just like "you see that look Tony just gave that guy?I bet he wacks him!" and then he doesn't...
You take a show like "Breaking Bad" and something is always happening. I think "The Sopranos" influenced a lot of tv drama to be like mini-movies, but it influenced a lot of bad tv too
reading the arguments of this thread, im going to have to vote "other"..there are too many great tv shows left off the list!

Deadwood, which is a contender for best written show on television ever.
My number 2 would probably be Band of Brothers.

fuckin' TRUTH.
Lock it down.
I honestly forgot that HBO produced that. I own the dvd set and never actually watched it on HBO.
I sincerely feel that BAND OF BROTHERS is a masterpiece of storytelling, acting, and production.

As a ham'n'egger I don't have HBO so Eastbound & Down wins by default since I downloaded it and enjoyed the show thoroughly.

Come on! The Sopranos is on the top of the heap. Even when it was bad, it was good.
While I wouldn't rank it up there with Curb, etc., I did love Flight of the Conchords.

The Sopranos at its best was MAYBE almost as good as the Wire. But it definitely didn't pull it off for as long

Went with other since my favorite was Six Feet Under.
some damn good shows there.
Sopranos started off amazing, but it lost a lot of steam. Last few seasons were mediocre.
I didn't see The Wire until now (I'm watching DVD's) and I'm loving that as it goes on its just as strong if not stronger.
Curb is amazing as was Lary Sanders.
6 feet under was fun
Band of Brothers was under rated as was "From Earth to the Moon".
Loved Deadwood and Carnivale.
I guess if I had to pick one I'd pick Curb your Enthusiasm.
and did anyone mention "Inside the NFL"?
This, by the way, is why I pay for HBO; I rarely watch the Movies, it's all about the original shows.

I went with The Wire because I think it could be the best show ever but I also very much enjoyed Deadwood.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is great as well but it's much different than the other two.

And lets just all cut the bullshit and admit the Sopranos was a fucking B minus show, or is everyone ready for another dream sequence?
