Seeing how this summer marks the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock music festival theres been a question thats been poking my brain.

A gathering of about Half a million people is quite an extraordinary event for humans. But I can't seem to think of any other time in history that an event such as that has occured. Which is probably why every time Woodstock has tried to be copied it has failed to impress or just out right failed.

Is it engrained in human's instinct that every couple decades or so to gather in abundance for some sort of event whether it be war, sacrifice, peace, etc. or was this phenomina a freak moment in time?

Call it for what it was. Sex, drugs and rock n roll. It just so happened a shit load of people showed up.

I think it was a special moment in time, with lots of mud, and good music.

Let me take you back to the days,
When long haired humanoids roamed the earth,
When "fire it up", had nothing to do with starting your gas grill

Moment in time, a memory to take to your grave. Nothing spiritual about it.

Million Man March
Live Aid
Hands across america
Farm aid
Obama's Inauguration

Not trying to be a dick, those were all pretty big. Just a moment in time.
Granted three of those had a shitload of viewers on tv.

I am a dick and I guess I missed all of them on TV. As far as Woodstock goes I was planning to.go with some friends and my mom told me not to come back if did. So I folded and kind of glad I did, I'm sure I'd have got in something I didn't need if I went.
