I hate my commute; I live in Jersey City but I work in Westchester county...

The Holland Tunnel is less than two miles from my place, I have to pass the entrances of the Lincoln Tunnel AND the George Washington Bridge, then I take the Tappen Zee Bridge...

I finally rented out my place so I'll be moving closer to work but I for now by the time I do arrive to work I want to dig somebodys eye out with a spoon...

Anyone else have a really shitty commute?

My commute is easy. I leave my house and then walk 2.5 blocks. It rules.

mine's easy but time consuming. I drive 5 minutes to a park & ride, grab a train that takes ~ 25 minutes to get to a ferry that takes another 25 minutes to get to Manhattan. Then I walk a few blocks. over an hour each way, 5 days a week.

Usually when I work I have to fly to California.

That gets boring rather quickly.

Mine's easy, I jump on the NJ Turnpike and take it 5 exits, about 30 minutes.

I'm moving in a few weeks and it'll tack on 10-15 minutes.

It'll be the Garden State Pkway to the NJ Turnpike.

Current Mileage: 26.3 Miles each way

Mileage in 3 weeks: 35 Miles each way

If I get the place I looked at yesterday, I will be less than two blocks from my office.

The quality of my life is going to improve by leaps and bounds.

my commute sucks, but i changed my hours to help out. I live in Franklin Square on Long Island and commute to Parsipanny NJ. I take the Throgs neck to the Cross Bronx to the George Washington Bridge...then I'm on Route 80 for a while. In the morning I leave at 5:30, so I can do it in an hour...i leave work though at 3:30 and it never takes under an hour and a half.

But the worst part are the tolls...I have to pay both the Throgs neck and GWB everyday. i think I get charged around $280 a month from EZ pass and then gas on top of that.

12 miles each direction.

On the Garden State Parkway for 8 minutes...luckily I live on the part that doesn't have any tolls.

25 minutes total commute each way.

Car? In my day*, we used our cars as storage facilities and parked them for long periods of time until we needed them for long trips. We'd say hello to them each day as we walked past them on our way to work, just over a mile. Sometimes, if we were lazy or it was raining, we'd take a bus, just so we could tack on an extra 20 minutes to our commute.

Then we'd cry and say "waaah, maybe I shouldnt live so close to work so I could have some down time and listen to music on my fancy car stereo"

But thats the way it was and we liked it. Weeee LOVED IT!

Me too. And it's against traffic both ways. It's the best!

My commute is 20 - 30 minutes. I go against traffic both ways. It's great.

My old commute was less than 10 minutes. I miss that sometimes.

I work from home..easiest commute I have ever had, but the days can be chaotic with 2 crazy kids.

I thought a 25 minute commute was bad...I feel bad for a lot of you guys out there!

I live in Queens and work in the Bronx. On a good day (which are few and far between) I can do it in about 25-30 minutes. On a bad day (bridge construction, accident, etc.) at least an hour. I usually don't go home until after 7:00 to avoid traffic unless there's a Mets game and then I wait until at least 7:30 p.m.

When I get back from road trips in the middle of the night I've done it from parking lot to my driveway in 20 minutes!

I live in Catonsville (right outside Baltimore) and travel to Suitland (about 5 mins outside the District in PG County) every day

Takes about 45 minutes with no traffic, with traffic (especially on Fridays) can take up to an hour and a half. The Parkway is untravellable after 3 PM, so I have to go the long way around up 95, which is backed up at the 495 split, and then backed up all the way from around the exit for 216 to the exit for 32, and then clears...and then backs up again at 175.

I used to travel a CRAZY route to get to school when I was still going to Maryland...I literally drove through 3 different counties to get there.

I drive about 30 miles south every morning to go into the office, then turn around and come back north to sell all day. I come home right from the road when I'm done and try to plan the day so I end up somewhere close to my house.

7 miles to work. A right, a left and a left. 7 miles home. About 10 minutes on normal days, about 7 minutes when I have to go in at 6 and no one is on the roads.

Less than 10 minutes. Usually just in time to hear Opie say "We gotta take a break." Then my entire drive is listening to Transforming Debt Into Wealth and Sun Setter retractable awnings.:wallbash:

Every now and again, when it rains heavy and the river floods, it's 30 to 45 minutes.
