I have a new Vista laptop and want to get a torrent client. I used Azureus on my old XP pile of shit. What's good these days, and what's stable for Vista 64-bit?

You have a new computer and you're going to downloading torrents?
I'd try to avoid the spam and trojans onto a new machine.

Hence the torrent client.

Even if one of them does have a virus or malware, which does happen.
A. Always read torrent comments, 95% of the time if a torrent is loaded with a trojan it will be in the comments.
B. Never trust live virus scanning. Extract it, highlight all files, right click "scan with" whatever software you have.

Actually, what's really bad for spreading viruses is software downloads.
In fact, one of the very few confirmed Mac virus outbreaks came from people downloading a pirated version of iWork '09.
Just download the free sample and find an activation code like the rest of us, douchebags.

Styckx is smart. (at least here).
utorrent, from good sites. as Styckx, before you delete something, check to see if it is a known false positive. For example, if there were things called keygens, they might in theory be most often mistaken for a trojan.

If there existed a site that offered torrents of shows that people "watch" on "television" every morning, and I tried torrenting the show from this morning, what would make uTorrent tell me that there are no seeders when I know otherwise. Hypothetical situation I thought up.

incorrect port forwarding settings?
In a hypothetical sense, I have no idea what that means.

Bingo! Lock it up.
I also use Demonoid as my main way to find torrents.

go to options > Speed Guide > then click the port forwarding checking button.
Then follow directions if it no good.
If the ports are forwarded check your firewall setting and make sure to allow Utorrent.

I concur. That's what I use.

utorrent - there's no better choice.
always use a good torrent site, if you can get an invite to a private one like Demonoid or something, even better since the chances of you getting something like a trojan seriously drop.
read comments thoroughly, they are usually the most helpful.
SEED SEED SEED - esp if you're on a private site. Not only will a shitty ratio get you thrown out, but the point of torrent is to give back what you take.
I'm running Vista 64 ultimate with utorrent and I've had 0 issues - I max my upload @ 200 and download at unlimited. I average (on a well seeded file) a max d/l speed of 2.3mb.
