On my way home tonight, as I turned a bend on a road in the middle of my town, I see a kid on a skateboard.

It's fucking 1 AM.

This kid was a mop topped little Freshman aged boy at most. I guess he was using the very well lit bank parking lot to do tricks? I don't know, it was just very odd.

I mind my own business, just curious what he's doing out at this hour and if the cops will harass him when they see him.

I skateboarded plenty of times late at night with friends whenever we could and we weren't getting caught. It's not that unusual so long as there's enough lighting.

I don't know about a bend in the road, but as a teenager before my knee surgeries, we would go to warehouse yards and commercial parks late at night/early in the morning because it was the best time to hit your runs when security guards weren't as prevalent. That, and we were usually drinking or smoking.

It has to do with avoiding the fake fuzz in a lot of cases.

Funny part is he's skating in a bank parking lot 200 feet from the Police station. So now that I think about it again, unless he just got there the cops know about him already.

I feel ya man, our band played a show out in the PA town my other 2 bandmates live in to raise money for a skate park. There's nowhere these assholes will let kids skate anymore. Do you WANT them to sit inside all fucking day on the computer? If you do, keep taking away their places to play outside.

Again, only weird thing to me was the time of night, but I always mind my own business and from the responses in here it seems much more normal than I thought. I mean I know about hanging out with friends until all hours of the morning wherever you are, but the lone kid struck me as out of the ordinary.

Oh yea, I totally get that. He's at that age where he just wants to get out. Weird thing is this bank parking lot is like a 12 car lot with nothing to really jump off of, grind on or do any sort of tricks off of that I can see. It's my bank, I'm in that place a lot for the free ATM, it's just a small lot, only thing it had going for it was lighting.

Oh well, he's probably just getting up now, planning another late night of Gleaming the Cube.
