View Full Version : The Return Of Earl?
Ron said today that since mooch hasn't been hired yet, Earl has offered to come back as a producer.
Would you welcome him back?

I want it to be Mooch first, but if not, then yes Earl.
i wouldnt mind seeing earl back a part of the show in some form, but how could they have not hired mooch already?

all Ron seems to remember is how much fun he had with Earl when they weren't working and the booking he did for the Sunday shows. Not how bumblingly awful he was like 3 out of the 5 days of the weekly shows and kept fighting with Dave. I hated Dave before Earl left. For some reason I think he's occasionally delightful now

I like Earl so I won't vote for the NO because it includes a "he sucks" which he doesn't.
But he's not coming back. Ron and Fez have never taken a guy back after he left no matter the circumstances.
I like Earl a lot and would like to see him call in more but he's not coming back.

Because positions on their show don't seem to pop up much and the whole company is hemorrhaging money.

earl is good for hours of ball busting
and catching him in lies every week...
if 'respected' earl is coming back... who needs him ?
in addition.... HE'LL NEVER LEAVE AND RON WILL RUE THE DAY !!!
also... doesn't earl have a book to write..
and a deadline fast approaching ?
Drunky McBetidont

he should work for free till his book deadline ends. then, if his book isn't published he is banished. if it does get published he has to resume the 25% parties till he is fired.

didn't Wonderboy come back when they went to DC? and Harry Elvis came back when they started at XM.
as for Earl: he seems like a nice enough guy, but as a worker he seemed to constantly duck responsibility for anything, just like millions of office workers who try to quietly put in their 8 hours and try to stay off the radar of any of the bosses.

I don't know if it matters, but neither left by choice CBS (Infinity at the time) didn't allow them to bring any NY staff members down to DC when they went to JFK.

FUCK THAT!
Earl had a sweet gig. He quit. GOOD BYE.
Ron wanted him gone, Fez maybe did too, but they both let "friendship" get in the way.
They need the show to move forward, not back.
Right now they have no EP, that is better than Earl.
Get Mooch, otherwise get somebody. I can't believe that Ron can't walk into the suit's office and demand an EP ASAP.

i know that, but I hope it's Mooch or someone else. it doesn't have to be Earl just because Earl isn't doing anything (even though he's supposed to be working on a book, i guess), and when he was doing production for the show, he was falling apart

I truly miss Ron yelling at Earl.
I truly miss Dave doing Earl's grandmother and Earl choking Dave out.
I truly miss Lilly doing Earl's grandmother and Earl doing nothing about it.
I truly miss sending Earl cakes that he promised to thaw overnight, only to have Ron yell about frozen brick cakes.
So yeah, I'd love to see Earl come back. Can't you imagine how it would go? The honeymoon period would be brief, but sweet...a nice buildup to the crash that would inevitably come. Bad for Earl (who I genuinely like in person), but great radio (but
maybe I'm a sadist).
Or they could just hire Mooch and make great radio without all the yelling.

I agree, I miss all those things, except while they were happening the show still needed an EP.
Earl would be a decent assistant producer, but not the top guy.

when is next real medicine live?
No later than Oct 17th, and thanks for asking
That will be the hajj to the crystal palace on 6th avenue...we're hoping before that we can do a live show from the Nashville studio.
This would require Danny to be in the NYC studio and we'd be in Nashville (duh) running the phone bank through a laptop connected to the main server at Sirius/XM.
It could be a total CF, with John and I talking about bloody stools for 3 hours and no phone calls if the system doesn't work, or it could be a lot of fun and we'd be able to do live shows every so often.
Anyway, we're working on it!

steve

dont think you can call it a "sweet gig" . he was constantly in the barrel.
he did need to learn to just fess up, i also believe that he was having to carry daves water also as dave would shirk duties to slip on the mike.
thats the impression i got.

I find the poll choices too extreme. Earl is like that half-forgotten cone of ice cream that's been sitting under the hot sun on a park bench three minutes after being bought. You come back to it and can't quite decide if it's still worth eating or if the mess would be too much to deal with.

I believe a pivotal part of the show is music/movies, things everyone can relate to. Simply put: Earl has the intuition needed to pick the correct song at the correct time in accordance to Ron's taste. Keep Ron happy and the show moves a long smoothly. Earl was always the scape goat for all of the blunders and he openly accepted the responsibilities.

If Fez is Earl and Earl comes back who is Earl gonna be?
Exactly... Two retards would not work. Maybe Earl could be old old fez and him and Ronnie B could bust the new new fez for his complete lack of intelligence or tolerance.
It would be weird, but strangely compeilling.

Fuck no. Why go backwards? Ron and Fez never go back why now? Why havent Sirius just hired mooch already? If he sucks just fire him in 6 months and put in some company stooge that knows nothing and cares zero about the ron and fez show.

He's a devout church goer that got in on with a porn star (Bree Olsen) on national radio. A crowning achievement that didn't even occur on his own show. Listening to the faildozer in action is a great way to feel better about yourself. What can I say... I miss that sad bastard.

The show needs another person. You can hear how lean the show is running these days. Earl must have done something to keep things going somewhat smoothly in addition to be being the occasional whipping boy for RnF. I say bring him back but only if Mooch is no longer an option.

I miss Earl and I think a lot of the negative stuff was a work. I don't like Mooch he may be very creative (if you don't know that just ask him)
but he's far too critical of everyone else's work. I also think Dave has grown over the last couple months and may not feel as threatened by Earl.

Threatened may not be the best word choice but I always felt Dave would do or say anything to put Earl down or make himself look better I don't hear that as much since he got in hot water on O&A a while back

Dave and Earl,no good.Fez and Earl,no good. Ron and Earl, good.Mooch or Earl? Mooch. But Ron needs Earl around, and in DC Earl was called like he was an old friend.....someone I had never heard, since I first heard RF in DC. Dave in unquestionably good for the show, yet his competetiveness/drive alienated Earl and Earl's drag on the show was noticed, especially when Mooch was ready to "hatch".Earl did the right thing for the show and for himself when he quit,to get his head together. If Fez can't stand Earl around then it shouldn't be forced on him. Personally,if I were Ron I'd hire Earl as personal assistant, outside of the official working show,in order to "keep them separated." As a side note O&A just barely tollerated Earl. As an armchair media person ,I feel Sirius is missing a golden opportunity to build a show around Earl.My ideas don't always make sense until a decade has passed in some cases.*Grunge wasn't born in a garage....it was in an attic.
