Sony at E3

Quite a bit of news from Sony though most of the big stuff was already leaked. The PSP Go will cost $249. It's a PSP without a UMD drive but with 16GB of flash memory. It has slide out controls similar to slide cell phones. It's smaller and lighter than the standard PSP.

And a few games announced for the PSP. LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (which seems to complete the Metal gear timeline running right up to the beginning of the first Metal gear game), Resident Evil: Portable and Rock Band Unplugged. And after fucking FOREVER Gran Turismo PSP comes out this year with over 800 cars.

OH YEAH, FINAL FANTASY 7 IS OUT ON THE PS STORE RIGHT NOW.

Final Fantasy XIV is Playstation exclusive, which is good. It's an MMORPG, which is bad, to me anyway. It comes out next year.

There was a veritable shit load of awesome games shown, including MAG which they shown being played by 256 players simultaneously.

They also showed more of Assassin's Creed 2 than has been shown anywhere.

And because everyone apparently has to have them now: another shitty motion controller. It works with a camera and two wands. The camera films you holding the wands but when showing the video renders graphics over the wand so that it looks like you are holding a gun or whatever. Like the 360 shit yesterday, cool but why? This is basically a mish mash of what the Wii has and what Microsoft showed yesterday. They didn't show this used in any games, only tech demos like yesterday.

Then they showed a LittleBigPlanet style racing game where users can make their own tracks. And then Project Trico from the creator of Shadow of the Colossus where a little boy travels ruins with a huge griffin like creature. Looks awesome. What they showed was an updated version of the trailer that leaked out a couple weeks ago.

And they finished up with God of War III and Gran Turismo 5.

They showed a hell of a lot of awesome games.

I thought the motion stuff was pretty good. The bow and arrow stuff along wit the shield/sword motion both looked really good.

Meh. I'm at a loss as to why it took so long to release it when the game was fully playable on the very original hardware if you took the time to copy and convert it and throw it on a memory stick.

There are so many PS1 titles that they should be releasing that they aren't. They seem to be focusing on original PSN content but I don't see why they still can't put up more PS1 titles since it requires minimum effort. When they released Warhawk for the PS3 you would have thought it would have been smart to release the PS1 version in the weeks leading up to it but no. They release it months after. Same thing with Resident Evil. Release Resident Evil: Director's Cut right before 5 comes out? No. They released it last week.

they could have showed only this at E3 and I'd be happy. The game I've been most looking forward to since buying a PS3. Between this and the new Metroid on Wii I'm thrilled so far. Now if Valve would finally show Episode 3......

I might give FFXIV a whirl as I was really into FFXI online for a bit... depends on how they develop the leveling system. FFXI was way too much of a time sink at later levels as you absolutely had to level w/ a party, and were expected to for hours, aside from the fact that you could sit around for an hour simply waiting for a party to join.
