Close Keithy. Alberto Gonzalez was the hispanic Attorney General they didn't want (http://www.politicalaffairs.net/article/articleview/394/). It was Miguel Estrada that they didn't want on the court (http://macsmind.com/wordpress/2009/05/30/democrats-could-care-less-about-hispanics-byron-york-remebers-miguel-estrada/).

I don't want to switch this around, but what if there was a Klan member chose to watch. I would say that the individual dressed in attire which is a symbol of hate and intimidation should have been asked to leave the area.

Ohhhhhhhh. Yeah... it was probably an overreaction. As we are all aware, white people are so scared of black people. Wonder how many rednecks with shotguns we'll see next election now that we've established that it's not intimidating or a weapon until it's used on somebody.
It's actually probably lucky he was there with that nightstick. Now that we know this isn't voter intimidation, we can probably throw out the argument that showing an ID is intimidating. I'd rather show an ID than deal with the militant with the billy club.

If I saw a redneck with a nightstick, I would point and laugh, walk in and vote. Not so sure if a shotgun is on the same level as a nightstick. No one reported this guy to the police except the reporters.
Personally, I think you should have to show ID to vote.

The dropping of the case against the New Panthers in Philly is pretty much bullshit, largely based on this:
http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5616/affidavit.jpg
If they were just standing there and not actually approaching anyone or making threatening statements dropping the case would have made sense. It would have still been a stupid decision on the New Panthers' part to have the nightstick, but they would have ultimately not been doing anything to obstruct people from voting. If Bull's account is true, and he has little reason to lie, then these guys most certainly should be investigated and also likely prosecuted.
It's also key to distinguish the New Black Panther Party from the actual Black Panther Party, which is now all but defunct. The original BPP members have denounced the NBPP repeatedly over the years. The NBPP is largely made up based on biogted and ridiculous eugenics and conspiracy theories. In short, they're made up mostly of ignorant scumbags.
The original BPP had its obvious flaws, but it's a shame its name is being dragged down by these idiots.
Also, I've seen the KKK analogy used in different places, and it simply doesn't work. If the KKK was there, their intimidation would be accomplished by their long history of actively targeting and going after people and attacking them or killing them due to their ethnicity or religion. Black activist groups, even morons like the NBPP, simply do not have that history. When all is said and done, white people have nothing to fear from these if they're not actively trying to start shit with them, which is why this wouldn't be a big deal if these guys had just been there and didn't have any weapons or start trying to intimidate people. People have real and many reasons to be afraid of the KKK, who would go after people for simply doing everyday things. That said, these guys from the NBPP crossed the line legally and should be investigated. I know the police were involved that day; is there perhaps a local investigation and the option was simply taken to not make it a federal case? Someone needs to be looking into this.

I don't want to burst your bubble. But, if you think the Klan is the white equivalent of the Black Panthers than you know little.
Read up on the Black Panthers and what they stood for and who they fought against.
Who did the Black Panthers target?
Who did the Klan target?
The Black Panthers began as a black power movement, than realized that it needed to help all oppressed people. Watch Forrest Gump, what meeting did he interrupt, if a black guy interrupted a Klan meeting, how would it have gone?
I know its a movie, but it's accurate in that sense.

I know there is a difference. One is the "Black Panther Party" the other is not. Everyone I have seen comment on the story has referenced the "Black Panther Party." Not differentiating between the two.
And, I am sure most people think even the original Panthers were the Black equivalent of the Klan.

Got it, agreed.
But, that is because people think the Black Panthers hated white people. Just like they think all MLK fought for was rights for blacks.
Another example of middle class and lower class whites thinking they have more in common with rich white people than they do with poor black people.
