I was surprised no one made a thread about Pixar's new film. having seen it last night...... wow. I think they are trying to get people cry as much as possible now. Up is a very emotional movie, and it only takes about 10 minutes to start the waterworks. It's also very funny. Somehow it manages to transition from some incredible sadness to some very good jokes in only a matter of minutes, and do it well.

As usual its another great Pixar movie but I wasn't in the greatest state of mind to watch a movie like this. Just be aware there's some real sad shit in this movie.

I took my daughter to see it today. I really liked it, but yeah, the first 20 minutes or so are a real downer.

I cried throughout the movie. I emailed my guy friend and was trying to keep it on the down low but I'll admit it here... I bawled thru the whole thing. I wasn't expecting that at all.

Pixar is just the most amazing fucking production company ever.

Saw Up yesterday and its a great film. Not a good animated kids movie that adults could like, its a great film.

The first 15 minutes will make you emotional. Maybe not cry but at least gets you emotionally involved in an animated character. They introduce mortality pretty early on which I thought was ballsy. Very rarely do movies have such emotional sincerity without being heavy handed. This did just that.

It had a flushed out script with a compelling story and characters that were fully dimensional. Visually, just superb. The stunning colors of the balloons and Kevin were probably even more lush in 3-D.

I hold this to the same standards I held Wall-E to. It is a great film on its own. It doesn't need to be put in a category. You can call it a cartoon or kids movie, you are totally missing the point of what movies are. It is one of the best of the year.

Saw this and the Brothers Bloom. Both very much worth seeing.

we went opening day.
my 4 year old looooooooooved it, especially that it was in 3d.

the beginning is sad (i got choked up at one point), but i dont think my son got the gist of the sad part.

the sad part is these 2 kids meet at such a young age (like 5 or so) and end up getting married, and having this great life together. they grew old together. she always wanted to live in this one place her whole life (it was her dream). they never did, and she died.
