I have a Blackberry Bold, which has individual keys. I also have an iPod Touch which has the same screen as the iPhone. I find that I can easily type much more satisfying on the Bold than I ever could on the iPod, but I never handled a Blackberry Storm. Between the Storm and the iPhone, which is easier to type on?

The Storm is ridiculously annoying to type on. The entire screen is essentially one big button that you have to press down and click with every keystroke, as opposed to just lightly tapping, like you would on an iPhone. It does have one cool feature - the on-screen keys illuminate as you move your finger across them - but the iPhone interface is better in just about every other way.

Probably the iPhone. I don't mind pushing the screen down for the Storm, and I find that I make as many mistakes typing on it as I did with my older BB.
One thing I hate on the BB, is that every time I have to write a number I have to press down the number key before so. I have to press number key, then the number, number key then the number ,etc. On the iphone you can press the number key, press a number, press another number and then press the number key when I want to type letters.

Hold down the number key for about a second and it turns on "num lock".

Nice! I didn't know that either. I guess it really does pay to read the owners manual.

Thanks. I still prefer the iPhone.
BTW, the iPhone's better in probably every area over the BB Storm. Better apps, better media organization.

I don't think you can send or receive pic messages or take video on an iphone, though. That's just retarded.
I really wanted an iphone, but I love verizon and didn't want to leave. I love my Storm, though. I think its great.

I didn't read the manual, I just read this thread (http://forums.crackberry.com/f135/ultimate-official-tips-tricks-only-100612/), which was the best thing I've ever done. It rules.

You're right about the video aspect, so the Storm does have that over the iPhone.
I like my Storm too. I definifitely like it better than my other blackberrys. It's nice to have the bigger screen for work purposes, browsing on the internet. Plus, you can switch the browser configuration to go from a BB/mobile browser to an IE or Firefox browser.

Actually, for my pearl, I have to hold down the shift and the alt keys to to turn on the num lock. I just found it here (http://forums.pinstack.com/showthread.php?t=6350).

I'm considering the Bold and the Storm right now for my new phone. I really need to go test each out. With the problems with the Storm, is it still the better choice?

I've never used the Bold, but assuming the typing wasn't so different on that compared to the 8703e, then I think the Storm is the better choice. The bigger screen is a bigger part of it. I don't know if you can change the browser configuration on the Bold, but with the internet browser option on the Storm, I think you can do some banning from the Storm, which is nice.

there's a new storm coming, and the new curve should be on vzw soon..
my friend at vzw said something new from bb is coming soon cause themarketing department has been preparing (and all the buy one get one's for bb's)
then there's the rumored apple device...
who knows, either way i know 100% that there's a new storm coming, and the new curve is already on a few other carriers....just have to wait for rim to cripple the new curve for use on the vzw network
OHHH yeah and the palm PRE will be available in a few months..and will probably be my upgrade of choice..web os is the future....and a physical keyboard...mmm

HTC Touch Pro 2 is the better choice.

The onscreen keyboard of the Storm just seems kind of half-assed to me. It has the worst aspect of the iPhone's onscreen keyboard -- that is, no real keys -- but lacks its best feature, which is that you can just tap the keys. That whole stupid thing of trying to make the screen "click" just doesn't work for me.
I'm curious to see what the Palm Pre's keyboard will be like. I am not hearing positive things in the early reviews, but I'll have to check it out for myself. I would not switch to Sprint to get one, but if it's true that Verizon will have them in about 6 months, we'd see.

At first i thought the iphone would be difficult to type on, but after about a week, i learned to just trust the predicitive text.....some errors now and again, but the phone itself just kicks ass.

See, I feel the exact opposite. I love the fact that I can't just accidentally tap a wrong key. You actually have to press down on the screen.

the current storm software was release internally at vzw about a month after the phones release, there was a new internal software release last week...wonder if thats gonna be the new update.
either way a whole new storm is due out in a few months...hopefully minus the big apple one button mouse screen.
