FIRST OF ALL, I'm taking drum lessons (again). I first tried when I was 16 and since it didn't come easy to me, I GAVE UP!

My second set of lessons is to brush up on my Russian. I tool it for two year in college. I do have somewhat of a grasp of the language. The DVD lessons are $600. I figured I'd have better luck if I hired a native speaker.

That scares me too (other than making sure the person is safe). I haven't spoken Russian in 20 years!!

I really want to succeed here. My promise to myself is NOT to give up!!!!!

Wish me luck!

I tried drumming when I was 14 or 15, and gave up as well.
I always just figured I had no rhythm.

BEST OF LUCK!

Good for you. Doing new stuff is what life is about. If you don't challenge yourself than you might as well go ahead and get in the coffin. You don't need luck because you're doing it!

I like to look at a lot of "how to" books and "how to" web videos.
I'm 26, and so far this year I've delved into the making of paper origami (http://www.geekologie.com/2007/07/16/amazing-origami.jpg) figurines.
I bought an electric guitar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8uEvJMJ-h8)/w an amp, and I'm teaching myself to how to play it through tutorial books and YouTube videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTeXkh8yC7w). I'm going back to college soon, and dream of forming some sort of punk rock band.
The other day I bought a book for making mixed drinks, I'm going out to buy some ingredients today, and try to make some Mojitos (http://theantiroom.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/mojito1.jpg).
I've been trying to teach myself C++ computer programming, and XHTML, for what seems like a decade now. I've also always wanted to be able to draw (http://scantyrevery.sc.funpic.org/Oekaki/oekaki/index.php) like a pro. My problem is that I don't stick with one thing long enough to really learn it thoroughly.
I once tried to learn to speak Chinese Mandarin, but gave up on it.

The unspoken wisdom in that cliche, 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks', is that once you learn something new - it makes you young again. Learning something new gives you the ability to grow! Good luck!
