So starting 6/6, there are going to be 14 weekends to do "fun Summer things" before labor day.
I don't plan to fly anywhere, but I wanted to see if people could suggest road trip/day trip ideas for places in Jersey and the surrounding areas.
Here's an article from NJ Monthly I'm using as a starting point:

I don't know about Jersey, but it's Strawberry picking season by me.
That's a fun afternoon.

Cooperstown
Gettysburg likely an over night but combo with Dorney Park.
They have some wineries down by Little Egg Harbor and Pomona. You could go wine tasting and grab a nice lunch.

Since I will be out of work I have a bunch of things planned for the summer for me and Lukas. Some are not just day trips
Philly Zoo (we have a membership and will go there a lot) They have kids concerts during the summer every other Tuesday... so we will hit that up.
Camping in the Pine Barrens
Northlandz
Trip to Wildwood Crest (have to save up a bit for that one) cause we do that every summer
Washington DC... I always love it there and it's great for a weekend or 2-3 day trip
State parks in the Poconos for walks and picnics

We're going to LBI (Beach Haven) for a week, which is exciting because neither of us have ever been there & because school ripped off our summer last year.

We're thinking about Buffet on 6/20, but Liz has an aversion to Camden even though she's never seen a show there.

You say that like it's a bad thing.
It could be the most fun venue in the world, but, after spending most of my days for the past 8 years in Newark, would you blame me for having an aversion to any city in NJ?

Come to Long Island and go to the Montauk lighthouse. As you go further out east, you see some cool shit and there are restaurants and farms and stuff.

That's hardly a day trip. But if I HAD to go to Michigan, that's where I'd go.

So it's you behind those annoying Pure Michigan commercials in the NY/NJ area? :furious:
Alright we get it you have cherries and Kid Rock.

I'm sorry, but Kid Rock is responsible for one of my favorite reactions from Ron Bennington all-time.
nother idea: New Hope during the day, capped off with a Trenton Thunder game at night.

It's actually nothing like Newark, it's 100 times worse. But seriously you aren't even spending time there other then to see a show in a nice venue. Why wouldn't you go?

I lied and said I went to New Hope once, let me know how it is.

Don't tell him Matty. Then the lies will never stop.

New Hope is nice for a stroll... maybe go on a day when the flea markets are open.
I may also take Lukas on the steam train in Phillipsburg. I always see it steam by but never went on it.

I'm giving Matty a hard time.
It's fun.
Man, I need a life.

Drive down and catch a Phillies game. Even if youre not a fan its a great park to watch a game from.
As bad as money is right now my vacation spot is 10 feet from my backdoor. I see lots of pool parties and BBQ's in my future this summer. But Ill be sure to take my kids to the Phillies fireworks game.

We saw Bon Jovi there a few years ago; I agree it's a great park.
It's on our list of places to go sometime. Maybe we can catch a Mets series ... I hear they'll be there in early July.
