I hurt my finger trying to open a door about an hour ago, and felt an extreme amount of pain in my right index finger. The pain lasted about a minute, and then turned into numbness... I figured it was just my body's way of dealing with the pain and maybe a bruise would pop up in a bit. An hour later, no bruise, and still totally numb. This is creepy. When do I get the feeling back in my finger? Did I kill it forever?

I'm beginning to think you're not a real Doctor.

Of course you can't feel it; you've had several strokes.

Oh, wrong Dr. Z.

I would go to a hospital. Us men need to feel with that finger. Maybe you damaged the nerves. Keep bending it and exercising it. Pinch it and press pointed but not sharp object against it, all around the finger.

Thats how it started with Lou Gehrig. Once it goes numb you have a disease named after you

Just an update... I still can't feel my finger.

I assume I killed a nerve in it. Maybe it'll come back with time?

See a doctor. Yoi might want to post your question in Dr. Steve's forum if you haven't already.

I'm sure it'll be fine. In 7th grade gym we did a westling unit. We were doing this free for all wrestling where you have to knock everyone out of the designated area, kindve like group sumo wrestling but on your hands and knees. Anyway someone bumped into the back of my elbow when I had all my weight on it and my arm went the complete other direction (thankfully didnt snap in half) I didnt tell anyone and I couldnt use the arm for a few days.

Actually that was a terrible example........ you should probably see a doc if you have insurance

yeah, it's definitely a nerve issue. get to a doctor. you'll probably need some kind of rehab for it, to strenghten the muscles, but you really should see your dr.
