C'mon, Michelle Branch is great, well at least two of her songs are. Okay, how about Norah Jones; but I don't think of her as a singer of "chick" songs. What is a "chick" song if we've missed on all accounts?

Michelle Branch has been good ONE time. Once and only once, and it was 50 seconds out of possibly the worst movie ever made.

I think the Carly Simon was on target but think more along the lines of "Youre so Vain" kinda stuff. Michelle Branch, who? She was gone in 10 seconds, i wasn't trying to be mean-you guys are just really far off with these songs, you're hitting a really low age group with them.

Madonna is probably the best for the girly sing-songs.

I like that song a lot, and I was thinking about putting some Go-Gos up, but to me they are a legitimate rock n' roll band and therefore weren't writing "chick" songs, even though the song topic may be like that.

That song sounds like a beer commerial. Substitute "drink some budweiser" for come through my window, and you'll see what I mean. In that song, is the window her vag, and does she really want some Doc Martened chick to literally climb up inside there?

I have to say, though, that I never got Melissa Ethridge at all then I heard a recording of her doing "Born to Run" at the 9/11 concert and was pretty impressed. I don't even like that song, but she knocked it out pretty good.

Two things I would say about this (awesome song by the way): did you hear all of the twelve year-old girls screaming during the whole song, and second, I don't think men at that time would be embarassed to admit liking the song --it was popular across genders. We are talking about songs that guys aren't ready to admit liking because they are "chick" songs.

You are making this too complicated but i submit, i will post songs that i listen to when i am being overtly XX.

I'm willing to reverse my stand on the Go-Gos. Just being a rock n' roll band shouldn't exempt them.
With the Ronettes men and women liked them equally at the time, I believe, and if not equally then there were a lot of men that openly did like them.
The Tom Petty song is just straight up rock n' roll and I don't think it's debatable who liked this song or not.

lambert sang the kiss song 'beth'
that song was outside the kiss norm
and was most definitely a chick song

if you are a man who likes the song beth
than you like a chick song

Even the so-called "rocker" from a few years ago (the bald-headed, one-name dolt) put out an album of the most pussified, over-produced, middle-of-the-road fake rock I've heard in quite some time.
