it looks interesting, but it seems like it may be O.C. + Freaks and Geeks + singing.

i will say that there are lots of actors/ actresses that are in this preview that will make me watch. The lead girl seems interesting, but has the worst hand writing i have ever seen for a girl.

I'll agree the pilot was pretty god-awful, but it is nice to have a sci-fi genre show back on mainstream TV. The main family they've decided to use as main characters are more irritating than interesting but I'm going to stick with it for a few weeks and hope it improves...

Back-to-back smacks for Apu Azaria. I really wanted ot to work, as a Hank fan since Head. Yet, after even a few minutes of the pilot, it was easy to see the writing; in fact, it was the writing (er, garbage) that shone the spotlight. How do they do it?! TV writers, that is. I note their impressive bios in many cases. I know it doesn;t take too much to polish writin skills. Time and again, however, it's plain shit. Mini-rant, stunted.

One other thing I've noticed is that HBO seems to be a lot quicker with the hook than they used to be. In the case of "Luck", it's probably because that show was getting to be far more trouble than it's worth for them, but they're not doing what they used to do, where they left a piece of shit like "Arli$$" or "Dream On" on for years and years.

I wasn't a fan of either "Hung" or "Bored to Death", but I figured they had enough of an audience for HBO to keep them around.
