View Full Version : How Much Is True?
Oh mighty Oracle...I beg your guidance once again!
What percentage of what's posted on RonFez.net is true in your estimation? That is, when people speak of themselves and what's going on in their lives, how much of it is falsehood (or delusion) and how much is the honest to goodness truth?

It's all true..
...except for that threesome with the Asian chick
It is all lies.
I wouldn't go that far, but I was surprised when I started discovering just how dishonest some people were when they were on the internet, this site included.
I guess it's because I was already an adult when the internet came around, but the thought of being anything other than honest and real never occurred to me.
I've met some people, though, who create entire online personas that are a complete 180 from who and what they are in real life.
It's strange, and I pity those people.
I'm just wondering what percentage it is.

I'm shy, add nothing to any discussion, am constantly ignored, and a drunk in real life. So I'm exactly the same on and off the board.

We lost tonight 7-6 in the last inning. First loss of the season. 3rd base coach is a cowboy. Results will be up on bergenfieldlittleleague.org in the morning.

i don't understand why anyone would be dishonest on a message board like this one.
or at least... like this one used to be.
especially if you are going to meet people in person... why create multiple board personas?
that is about as dishonest as it gets, right?
just be you.
people will either like or dislike you. and that is the natural order of things.

I am pretty honest. How many people would admit they thought "tits" were nipples and not the whole boob? Sometimes I use swear words on this board when normally I wouldn't. I just don't swear that much especially the "F" word. I am pretty much just: damn, asshole (I save that one for my lovely husband), and shit.

My posts are all truth. I cant lie. Not just here but in real life too. Its not that Im overly moral or anything, I just have a hard time remembering lies and thats how you get caught. Its always easier to remember something if youre telling the truth.
Besides, no offense to anyone, but what do you have to gain by trying to impress a bunch of screen names?

It's strange, and I pity those people.
Why do you pity them? Because it's a sensational thing to say? You're a character the same as everyone else. You cannot represent yourself accurately because you cannot be entirely objective about yourself - you pick and choose what the gvac character does and does not do on .net. The whole notion of going online and representing yourself is flawed, by nature ... to represent oneself is to design a presentation of a person. You are not really here - I am not really here. This is all a show.

No. Because some people invent an entirely false life for their internet persona. The lie about their age, their sex, their job, their marital status...everything. They'll say whatever it takes to make false friends.
I think that's sad.
And I disagree about being a character.
Sure we joke and bust balls, but we do that in real life as well. Presenting myself as a larger than life, better than everyone else type of guy is a shtick I use on and off the internet.

If you pity the people who invent entirely fictitious character - then, I can't really disagree. I personally don't pity them because I don't know their motives. Plus, who am I judge?
I still stand by my belief that we are all characters.

I have an easy way of doing this. I just assume everyone on the boards is telling the truth....until they are caught in a lie. Then that person loses credibility.
Of course for me, its alot easier to believe some of the people I know on here that are also on Paltalk, who Ive heard mic up and seen on cam, or have seen pictures of them and their families that theyve posted. It tends to make them more of a real person then just a board character with an odd screen name.
