View Full Version : Daddy, Please Drink More Beer!

Burkely, my 6 year old son, has been collecting his dad's beer bottle caps for the past month. I think it is wrong, especially when he tells his dad to drink more beer so he can have more caps. What are your thoughts?
The only good thing I see coming is a new picture for our living room

What a cool creation! It's not bad as long as you're OK with it. My grandpa taught us how to play poker with canadian coins when we were like 8 and we turned out alright! He also drank some kind of beer that had little puzzles in the bottle caps and he has baskets full of them and we would take the beer caps and figure out puzzles. Beer can bring much more hapiness than just getting loaded.

I wouldn't worry till he starts asking for the beer.

Burkely didn't make that fish.....I meant that the bottle caps could be put to use for something like that.

You may not realize it now but he is teaching your son a valuable asset, faithfulness. Not once did he stray from his brand.
It's good to see parents being there for their children.

There's nothing more charitable than helping the children of the world. I'm booking a flight to MN, prepare a case of Yuengling, this wop is thirsty!

When I was a kid in grade school, we all had beer can collections. Seems a little wrong now.

Putting on my serious cap for a second.
Kids model what they see the parents do. If Burkley sees drinking in a positive light it will encourage this behavior when he gets older.
If stuff Ryan has said on the air are to be believed (ie rehab) maybe time to reassess things. Sorry to be Debbie Downer but I have previously played this serious role on Rhino. He probably remembers.
FYI I thought long and hard before I hit post reply

first off, biggirl said in her post that she thinks it is wrong, so I highly doubt that it is an encouraged behavior or that Ryan purposely would drink more just to please his son.
Kids say the craziest things... in a very innocent way, not realizing the double meaning their words could have or the impression they would give off... for example when my son thinks it's hilarious to "put things in my butt" (by his words) when trying to hide his toys in the back of my pants... (it's not cause he has ever seen anything that way or I have taught or encouraged him to put toys in my pants...or I even used these words... it's just his weird way of playing)
I think you are probably reading way too much into this to be so concerned.

What a parent can't worry about his kids now?

I appreciate the serious reply. I didn't grow up with drinking in the house so my opinions about alcohol are completely different than Rhino's. I do, however, enjoy a good drunken night. I just don't agree with drinking on an every day basis.
Burkely told me he isn't going to drink beer when he grows up, just root beer. Burkely's kindergarten teacher claims that beer and pop is a huge topic among all of the kids....
I don't like the fact that he is collecting beer bottle caps for #1 it is beer and #2 it is garbage. Burkely collects garbage and makes stuff out of it even though he has $100,000 worth of toys in our house!

Can I make him do all the chores at both my houses? It would save me a lot of cash. Kind of a fair exchange for room and board. Let's figure something that could work for both of us!

Get started trimming the bushes and edging the driveway. The gutters aren't going to clean themselves either.

I'll take care of the landscaping. The wife can run your office. Just let us live in the guest wing of Château K, and keep me supplied with pasta and beer.

Between the 3 of us the place will look immaculate, unlimited caps for the kids, and we will keep the local beer businesses booming.
