which do you perfer?
I'm a desktop man. I know laptops affort some mobility, but typing on them is so uncomfortable and the tiny mouse pad is cumbersome

Desktops all the way. Able to do so much more with them. Lots of room to work. Really besides RAM upgrades and HD swaps I'd have to look up videos on what I can do wtih a laptop. I'm ready to swap out processors, RAM, whole motherboards, whatever on a desktop.
Still need laptops though. I almost never use the included mouse though. Always have a full sized mouse with my laptops. In fact I got a great price on a Razer mouse I keep with mine. Of course on the go you're gonna probably use the built in one.

desktops are better for stability and performance. they can be repaired relatively easily in comparison to laptops. ditto for upgrades.
still, I love my macbook. it's the bomb. i never use my desktop anymore.

We got my mother and grandmother laptops. Saves so much space on their desks. I wouldn't trade my laptop for anything.
Desktops are still better but laptops are indispensable.

I used to love the desk top and I even begged Rhino for a new one last fall, which we got. Since we moved the laptop to the living room, I like it better. I can multitask...you know watch TV, watch the kids, sell my ebay stuff...I have gotten used to it (too much).

Did I mention that they're both awesome? The desktop and laptop. Well they are.
So fuck this vote. What's next? "BLUE OR RED?" Cocksuckers.

OH yea, they don't need to upgrade for gaming, you just use their laptops for business and go home. They're awesome to save desk space at work and great for taking from place to place.
I'm kinda with CCC on this, I need BOTH. I choose Desktops for the ability to upgrade, work on and mod them but there's places I don't want a desktop either.
I'm in the middle on this.

Desk top.
Although many lap tops are customizable and upgradeable they still can not compete with a desktop.
I have a 22" HD monitor, can't get that screen size in a laptop.

Pick up an adapter (if it's a new Macbook, MIni DisplayPort to DVI, if it's older, Mini-DVI to DVI) and you can basically use your Macbook as a desktop. You hook it up to the monitor with the adapter, and you connect up an external keyboard and mouse. When your Mac desktop appears on the monitor, close it. You are now basically running a desktop.
You can also get an Apple Cinema Display for this, but the adapter is much cheaper.

Part of the joy of my laptop, that being its mobility, would be lost should I transmogrify it into a desktop, thus it would just be a desktop and not be a laptop. Thus it would render the debate of this thread moot.
But awesome suggestion.

laptops finally have some great video card options.
sure you're gonna pay alot for a true desktop equivalent, but having a great laptop that you can hook up to a nice 20+ inch monitor and bluetooth keyboard and mouse... its great flexibility.
i've always wondered why they don't make an adapter so you can hook a laptop up to your dekstop to use your laptop as the monitor/keyboard/mouse for the desktop.

i could not agree fully there.
unless they are small business that lack a proper network.
Most larger company have there own networks with servers and monitoring usage.
setting up PC's with permissions as not to misuse them.
That would be very difficult to do on a laptop based company unless you are small.
