Two neurotic Jews walk onto a movie set.

Finally, a trailer for Whatever Works. Not only is it Woody Allen's return to NY after five years away but it's also the first time he and Larry David will work together. It will be released on June 19th.

I'm not gonna look it up right now but I'm pretty sure these two have worked together in the past. LD has been in some of Woody's other films. Radio Days for sure and possibly New York Stories. There may even be another. I'll look later.

You're right on the money....those are the two....but strictly small parts.

Thanks, Paul. I couldn't remember if LD was in the Woody Allen segment of New York Stories
or if he was in one of the other two.

The trailer was dreadfully boring and unfunny.

You're not just stirring shit with this post.
I'll still see it however.

Agreed. I hope the movie is funnier than the trailer.

I know that Larry David and Woody are known for their improv style of acting...but that trailer makes it seem as though Larry is trying to be too NY.

We'll see. I have no expectations.

Finally saw it. I liked it, just barely.

It's another young beautiful woman falling for a nebish old man but this time substitute Woody Allen for Larry David. But as a fan, I'm willing to except that in his movies. Larry David is really funny and the first half of the movie when its just him and Evan Rachel Wood is pretty good. Then it kinda goes off the deep end when Patricia Clarkson and Ed Beagly Jr. show up.

Some nice dialogue, pretty funny moments but the story is shit and didn't come close to the high hopes I had when I heard they were first working together.

I watched this on dvd last week and enjoyed it for what it was. It's not going to end up on my all time favorite lists but I did laugh and was amused by the dialogue and characters, agree though with hammersavage that the story was kinda blah.
