Red Cliff (Chinese: 赤壁; pinyin: Chìbì), also known as The Battle of Red Cliff, is a Chinese epic film based on the Battle of Red Cliffs and events during the end of the Han Dynasty and immediately prior to the period of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China.
Take the story of one of China's most famous ancient historical battles, throw in a bunch of the superstars of Asia, combine it with one of the coolest action directors, and toss in some millions and you get Red Cliff.
The film was directed by John Woo, and stars Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Zhang Fengyi, Chang Chen, Hu Jun, Lin Chi-ling and Zhao Wei. With an estimated budget of US$80 million, Red Cliff is the most expensive Asian-financed film to date.[2] The first part of the movie alone grossed out $124 million in Asia[3] and broke the box office record previously held by Titanic in mainland China.[4]

Who knows when it's coming to America. 2009 is supposed to have a release but it's also said to be butchered into a 2.5 hour single film. Screw that. Watch the original. It's amazing.

It's intense, the battles are some of the biggest on screen. One of the most epic things I have ever seen.
If you haven't seen it and you're a fan of epic movies, especially from the East, you are doing yourself a disservice by not seeing these films.
