I had DVR'd the Godfather and was watching last night when all of a sudden, a face appears on the back of a woman's black dress! I slow motioned it over and over and you can clearly see a woman's face. I was all jacked up like I had caught something paranormal but this morning i found that it is not only on my recording but others as well. Anyone heard of this and can explain how this could happen - if a tech's face somehow got imposed in the transfer from film to digital?

It's actually on Michael's suit, but it's just a glare on the lens of Michael's Mother's face who is seated next to him. It shows up as the scene goes from the relatively bright background to the black of his suit.

From IMDB:

Crew or equipment visible: During Vito's funeral, when Michael stands up to talk to Tessio, the face of Mama can be briefly seen under his arm, tinted orange-red and chewing gum. After Roger Ebert reported this in his "Movie Answer Man" column in 2001, Francis Ford Coppola and Kim Aubry investigated: they confirmed that King was not supposed to be in the shot, but had gotten into it by an accidental reflection in the optics, probably off a filter (hence the tint) in the matte box.
