If Cleveland doesn't call a timeout, he doesn't get to come back in the game to throw the winning TD.

Ok so he faked it and got really lucky that Cleveland called the timeout so he had time to reconsider his charade. Then after he threw the TD he realized it was an opportunity for false glory and went back into his act.

Berman just completely missed the point of hte "Who Dat" chant in his interview with Drew Brees.

He ended it saying "Well, we know 'who dat'" -- apparently either not knowing the rest of that is "...say they gonna beat dem Saints", or giving a backhanded slap that he thought the Patriots would win the game.

Though I don't think that fat dope is that clever.

It was the Anti-Icing. The icing has become so expected, that the lack of a last second TO actually threw the kicker off.

He's not the perfect "QB" for any NFL system...come on.

Udog, he always had an arm, just very little accuracy. Guess what, it's still very much in effect. Without CJ there, he's in a ton of trouble bc all his passes are short ranged and set up by CJ's play. He has really low totals through his 4 games started thus far, and smart teams will stack up and take away his running options. As soon as someone does it, TN loses. Still, he's so athletic he surely is a better option than old man Collins right now.

It pains me how much the announcers "want him to be great". Hell, they even made that exact quote and Stew Scott was literally licking his balls. He just couldn't believe he got a text from Kobe!! Ha! I guess the advice was to rape some girl in Denver on an away game and just sit back and watch the love and championships roll in! Great mentor Young.

Good to hear there's someone around here who understands tradition here.

I think adding the third, evening game is a good compromise: put in a third game that might be far more relevant to the standings than either the Lions or Cowboys game might be. This year's Thanksgiving night game might be pretty interesting: two desperate teams in what appears to be free fall trying to stay alive.

Was he controlled and accurate for the most part, sure. I'm not saying he doesn't look better and more controlled, I'm saying I don't think he's a good pocket passer and worth the ass-kissing EPSN gave him. You know me Shaun, I like athletic ability in my players, but it's not the big ingredient with QB's (eg. Manning, Roth, Rivers, Rodgers). Will he keep the Titans in games and be better than Collins? Of course, but he's not going to far until he learns to make plays with his arm. Fisher is a good coach too, I think he handled Young very well and he has grown bc of it. Some would argue he should have gone to Young earlier, but I disagree. He's now 4 years removed from his hero status in college where passing from the pocket isn't a necessity as it is in the NFL, and he had time to put his past mental troubles in perspective. It remains to be seen if he can win a game with his arm, not as a third option (CJ/LW with the run game as option 1, Young's legs as option 2 and finally his arm is option #3).

Throw, maybe...but he's still yet to do any damage in that area and it's surely not even close to a normal rate. He has 623 yards in 4 games and the team ranks at the back end of every passing category bt the two starters through 10 games (almost an even split now).

And don't get me wrong, I was rooting for the kid until he did he gay name dropping live on tv...not to mention he dropped the name of a player I fucking despise.

What kind of great tradition is having Detroit play every year? At least Dallas may have a few off years but still comes back competitive. Detroit blows every year. They dont deserve to be playing on Thanksgiving. Fuck them, and that tradition.

Im sure the people that work at the stadium would appreciate a Thanksgiving at home with their family for once. I worked the Eagles game last year and it fucking sucked. Had to be there 5 hours before kickoff and missed the whole holiday. I couldnt imagine having to do that every year.

Also they need to start making sure the Thanksgiving games are sure to be compelling games. Why the fuck would anyone put the Raiders on Thanksgiving? Now we have to watch 2 of the worst teams in the league. Its ridiculous.

I say rotate the games every year. The tradition is football on Thanksgiving. It doesnt have to be Dallas and Detroit.

Agreed. The Giants waited until WAY too late, but did actually petition the league about playing this Thursday. Most teams don't want it, but the Lions might want to hold on to the only thing they have to look forward to bc they aren't getting any Thursday/Monday night games for a long time.

I agree again here, and Detroit's awful tradition means jack shit to me. It really should go the way the end of the year Thursday night games go right now. Looking at the schedule, and ruling out any team that played Monday for the previous week, my picks for the TWO games on Thursday would surely not be Detroit vs anyone or the Dallas game. Making a third game only adds to the problem in my mind. 4 teams to play on the holiday is plenty.

it doesnt matter if theres one or two guys that are marginally better than everyone else, thats going to be at every position. the point is the value you can find at that position can be taken late where it cant with other positions. you waste a draft pick by taking a QB early.

Hold on, I dont want them to move the games during the season. I just think they should schedule them the way they do Sunday Night Football games. According to what, at the beginning of the season, will look like a big matchup. If it were me? This year the two Thanksgiving games wouldve been New England / Indy and Minnesota / Green Bay. Sometimes by the time the game comes around it may not be as good a game, but at least you have a good shot.

I dont care if Detroit and Dallas invented playing pro football on Thanksgiving. For years before that high school teams routinely played their biggest rivals on Thanksgiving. So the Cowboys and Lions werent exactly reinventing the wheel.

Like I said, taking those teams off of Thanksgiving would mostly just bother the people of Dallas and Detroit. 99% of the rest of the NFL fans would have no problem with it.

I believe it isn't as simple as a scheduling issue. From my understanding it would take a resolution from the owners to take away the Thanksgiving rights from Detroit and/or Dallas. How is that the owners decision? What exactly are the "Thanksgiving rights"? I didnt know there was some contract between the league and the Cowboys and Lions that stipulates they have to play at home every Thanksgiving.

Im pretty sure if the commissioner wanted to rotate the schedule and put different teams in every year, he could. Not saying its gonna happen because the NFL gives less a fuck about the fans then any other pro sport. But if he wanted to, Im pretty sure theres no paperwork that says he cant.

the way this sounds, it seems as the owners have the final decision. it's from wikipedia, so take it however you want.

Following the 2008 season, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed that the Lions will be permitted to keep their Thanksgiving game for at least the 2009 season, though league owners may revisit the situation "later in the year" (possibly referring to the owner's meeting, which takes place before the schedule is set) if they so choose.[6] Lions president Tom Lewand claims that their game is not in jeopardy, the controversy is media-generated and that the owners have never seriously talked about removing them; however, this contradicts Goodell who stated that "it's come up a few times."[7] On March 23, 2009, the league owners officially kept the Lions on the Thanksgiving game with an announcement that the Lions would host the Green Bay Packers, one of their division rivals, on November 26. In addition, some have felt that if the Lions were to lose their Thanksgiving game, it would be bad for the Detroit economy, given the fact that the Big 3 automakers have been in dire straits.

Here is a link to a story (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/10483708/1)from CBS Sports about the history of the Thanksgiving Day and Detroit/Dallas. They have multiple instances of how the league has tried to pass resolutions to move them off the day.

There was also a story this winter in Detroit that douche Goodell was threatening to start a resolution to move them off Thanksgiving if they didn't get better soon.

That would make it not the commissioner's call from what I see.

How about this idea? Move all the games to Thanksgiving and treat it like a regular Sunday schedule. Then, give everybody Sunday off to do their Christmas shopping. A fucking boon to the economy and you get your choice of game to watch. Let's think outside the fucking box here people.

Well thats it then. Hopefully after a few more 2-14 seasons the owners will give the fuck up and let us watch some good teams on Thanksgiving. That one game isnt doing anything for the conomy of that shithole anyway.

2-14 teams dont deserve nationally televised games.

I would bc he's on all my teams.

Normally, there's 2 or 3 QBs way ahead of everyone (and Manning is much more consistent than everyone else), and then the rest of the QBs are all very close to each other (much like Kickers). This season is just ridiculous.

To me there are always 3-5 Qbs worth reaching for early if you aren't in the prime spots for RB and the top wrs get taken up. If I'm at the end of the first, I have no problem going wr/qb, qb/rb...pending on what's out there. For kicker, I always go after a ball controlling/high scoring offense. For example, Rackers should be good, but Warner will throw a pic trying to score over settling for a needed FG. I stay away from these type teams even though high scoring bc the fgs are usually low.

I need it. And the fans need it.

Really? You NEED the Thanksgiving Day games to be compelling? There isn't anything you could be doing with your family on that day that isn't bigger than a Detroit Lions football game?

That one game isnt doing anything for the conomy of that shithole anyway.

Really? So those 40/50 year traditions of families traveling to the games isn't good for those economies? You want to kill that tradition so that you have a "better game" on Thanksgiving?

Once again, this comes down to a fundamental question of who the NFL is. If the NFL starts throwing out its few traditions, its nothing more than a cheap commodity and will eventually cycle itself out of being the #1 sport in this country.

I eat dinner with my family and watch the games every Thanksgiving. I want them to be good ones. My entertainment is what I care about here.

Really? So those 40/50 year traditions of families traveling to the games isn't good for those economies? You want to kill that tradition so that you have a "better game" on Thanksgiving?

Yes. Why am I supposed to care about the families whos tradition is to go to a Lions game for Thanksgiving? And you act like if they dont play on Thanksgiving they lose the game completely. Theyd still make most of the money by having their game that Sunday. That one game isnt boosting Detroits economy. Thats a fucking copout. Im betting the hundreds of people that work at the stadium every year would love the tradition to end so they can actually get to spend a Thanksgiving with their families for once.

Once again, this comes down to a fundamental question of who the NFL is. If the NFL starts throwing out its few traditions, its nothing more than a cheap commodity and will eventually cycle itself out of being the #1 sport in this country.

Oh please. Thats just ridiculous. The NFL has gone through so many changes since the league came into play it doesnt even look like the same game. Between the rules changes and the heavy fines for celebrating, each decade the NFL looks completely different from the decade before. Watch the old NFL films specials and its obvious. Like I said, the tradition is having football on Thanksgiving day. As long as they continued to do that it wouldnt matter what teams were playing.

And as long as its the most physically violent sport, the NFL will continue to be the #1 sport in this country.

Like I said, the tradition is having football on Thanksgiving day. As long as they continued to do that it wouldnt matter what teams were playing.

Thats a day the NFL has, but not the entire tradition which defines it. The perfect example of changing the tradition is the Big 12.

The Big 12 (or Big 8 in the past) ALWAYS ran Oklahoma/Nebraska on Black Friday. That game mattered. Then the Big 12 decided that they needed a more "interesting" game than the tradition...and now while the game might be "better"...nobody gives a shit about the game.

If they were to move the Thanksgiving games from Detroit/Dallas, then the games might be "better"...but would they matter?

The only people they matter to now is the fans of Detroit and Dallas!

Those games would matter to the fans of the teams playing. And the gamblers. Nothing would change for those guys except they wouldnt have a stone lock taking whoever was playing Detroit in the early game every year.

No way, he's just off and still isn't throwing picks and keeping control. His stats are fantastic for all the pressure and sacks he's endured. In fact, he's the main reason they'll make the playoffs. This is an in-division game, so it's not as big a blowout as you'd expect (and in Detroit, who the fuck likes even being near that city). Not to mention that play call was on the coach and going for it in general. Kid the FG and go up 9, not 6. You just gave them a spark after scoring 13 straight points. It's a logical choice to me at that point in the game.

Ben Roethlisberger will not play tomorrow vs. the Ravens, because he is still showing symptoms of a concussion.

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/blog/2009/11/report_roethlisberger_out_vs_ravens.html

Honestly, I didn't expect him to play anyway. After the ass-chewing Goodell got about head injuries from Congress, I have a feeling that the league office had a little talk with the Steelers.

Because people LOVE the Saints, and everyone wants to pick the Texans so they don't all look like idiots again when they end up 8-8 or 7-9 after they all picked them at the beginning.

There's always at least one analyst who makes the Texans their "sleeper" pick for the year, and they act like they're the first to ever suggest that and they're going way out on a limb.

If the penalty hadn't happened, Palmer was running out of bounds well outside FG range.

No. Most of us realized we fell in love with our team and so we committed to them. We feel more allegiance toward not being a sissy flip flopper.

People who quit on their teams are like politicians who just say whatever to come off better. STICK WITH IT. HAVE SOME CONVICTION

The better question would be who DOESN'T want Gvac banned for his shameful display of fan cowardice?

Just to clarify, you have through the regular season to repent and rejoin your beloved Bengals. Once the playoffs start no amount of groveling will reverse the almighty IP ban after the Bengals win.

NINE members of the Cincinnati Bengals were arrested in a 12 month span.

One of them 4 times.

Their GM and head coach said there was no discipline problem on the team.

The one that was convicted 4 times (the final one was underage sex with a Cincinnati high school girl) was Chris Henry.

The Bengals announced he would NEVER play for them again.

During the exhibition season, however, Houshmanzadeh and Ocho Cinco went down with injuries.

Guess who they ran and resigned?

There is NO WAY I could root for an organization like that.

Maybe you can.

I can't.

My allegiance to a jersey and helmet ends somewhere.

They found my breaking point.

Sorry if you can't accept that.
