So I'm watching SportsCenter, and they have this little segment where they read comments from fans. And one of them is from a Vikings fan, accusing ESPN of "hating on" Favre.

I will let epo clear up the details on this.

From Mayor Jim Schmitt's website:
With suggestions already pouring in, Mayor Jim Schmitt is asking for public input on the best way to respectfully “welcome back” one of the City’s most famous former residents: new Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre. In advance of the Green Bay Packers highly anticipated home game at Lambeau Field against the Vikings on November 1st, Mayor Schmitt has fielded a wide variety of ideas from Packer fans on how to commemorate the occasion, from re-naming streets, to welcoming back other former Packers greats, to creating the world’s largest #4 waffle. The Mayor is reaching out to the community to create a list of the Mayor’s Top 4 things he can do to tastefully welcome back Brett Favre.
Send the Mayor your thoughts on the best way to “welcome back” the City’s famous Number 4! Your ideas will be accepted until Wednesday, October 28th.

we want king felix
He's not great by any means.
He had 100+ catches last year with 2 TDs.
There were WRs that had half as many catches as him and still had more yards.
I just don't think he's as good as many people seem to think.
Catching the underneath passes that are usually thrown to RBs doesn't make you good.
It just means the secondary isn't much paying attention to you.
Actually 3 TDs and 8 in 07

Here's my preview of Week 7 in the NFL:
--In the early games, the best game is definitely Vikes/Steelers, which is probably the game of the day. I'll be interested to see if we finally get Bad Favre, the confused looking "gunslinger" throwing shitty passes to the other team. I don't really think that he's played a really good pass defense yet, and he gets one today. I'm taking the Steelers here.
--The only reason to watch the Patriots/Bucs game is to see how confused British fans are by this game. "I say, those chaps are carrying the ball in their hands." It's going to be a total dogshit game. Probably not 59-0, but pretty damn bad.
--In the afternoon, the most interesting game will be Bengals/Bears. We'll see if the Bengals rebound, and if the Bears might be for real. I think the Bears might be making Cutler the centerpiece of their franchise too early. I'll take the Bengals.
--If the Raiders beat the Jets, I won't stop laughing for days.
--Tonights Cardinals/Giants game might be fun too. I think the Giants might drop another.
--You are excused from watching tomorrow night's MNF game.

Yeah, wow, another 10 yards per reception.

he leads the league in YAC since 2007 or something like that. at least according to the stat yesterday during the Patriots broadcast. i dont know if you watch these games or whatever, but its like you assume he runs 10 yards, catches a pass then falls to the ground.

Cutler has had his interception issues this year, but let's stop with the "he's on a much better team" nonsense. He's on a dogshit team with a non-existent OL and a non-existent rushing game and maybe the worst offensive coordinator around and without a go-to #1 WR. To act like his performance 6 games in with a new team still trying to radically change its entire offensive approach "proves" that he's as bad as Jason Campbell is laughable.
How about comparing them with a window bigger than just 6 games from this season? And W/L records proving that they're the same? Let me guess, you think that's a key stat for pitchers, too, right?

Yes. It's really not too difficult to see why. I'm not going to sit here and act like his first 6 games with the Bears are the work of some kind of quarterbacking master, but it's pretty obvious he is a good quarterback. The interceptions need to come down, but I have little reason to think they won't if the Bears can eventually put together some semblence of an OL and a rushing game.

Denver's defense was shitting the bed when he was there and typically on offense they were having to fight back to try and tie things up or take the lead up until the end. When you have to play that aggressively and need the QB to rack up a ton of scoring in short time they're going to throw more picks than usual. This isn't saying that he doesn't make his mistakes (that Green Bay game was basically him just having a terrible game) or that he's an elite QB, but he clearly has the talent and ability to consistently rack up the yards and the points and be one of the better QB's in football (as he's been in his time in the NFL). He's been put into a horrid offensive situation in Chicago that needs a ton of work. Even the best quarterback would be having problems with little to no protection and a rushing game that has completely vanished and an OC as consistently clueless as Ron Turner.

Agreed, which is something I think Cutler has shown just in this season alone. All 3 of their wins have basically been the result of him bringing the team back and taking the lead. Look how many come from behind wins he had with Denver. There is, however, a huge difference between QB's showing that they can be a critical factor in their team winning and the teams actually winning a lot of games. There's only so much a QB can do. Even the best quarterbacks need a balanced, good team around them if they're going to win more games than they lose.

How are you not saying that a QB is the main difference between a team being a winning and a losing team? The implication of your statement is pretty limited.
Maybe I just don't understand the point of your initial statement.

Man, you are one weird dude. This little debate is by no means necessary to show that Cutler is better than Campbell. It's an argument over semantics.

so then you would rather have the pitcher that is 10-30 with the 1.00 ERA then because wins and losses dont matter?
Of course. That's just common sense.
Would you rather have the guy with the .300 average and the .700 OPS or the guy with the .250 average and the .850 OPS?

i agree with you on that. i'm finding it difficult to explain what i'm trying to say with the whole quarterback thing about winning games blah blah blah. good quarterbacks find ways to win games.
my final point. i do not think cutler is a good quarterback. middle of the road at best.

mainly the interceptions. i put i very high value on that in a good quarterback.
i must admit, i haven't watched a lot of games with him at QB, but he has never looked impressive to me.

I agree that the interceptions aren't ideal, but it's something that hopefully can be worked with. A lot of very good QB's had a shitload of picks over their career but were still effective, gamechanging (for the better) QB's. I'm curious to see what his picks would look like in a season when he's on a team that consistently takes a lead and holds it for most of a game. In the meantime I can live with his picks since they seem to usually be a byproduct of him stepping up and being "the guy" when it comes to the offense because nobody else is going to come from behind and win the game. Someone in that position a lot is, unfortunately, going to be picked off more than average. He easily could just be a talented QB whose main weakness is throwing too many interceptions, but as it stands right now his career isn't long enough to know for sure.
Our of curiosity, do you consider Favre to have been a good QB?

I needed 14 points to win first place in my 14 team roto league ( my only
this would get me a $100 Bonus
I had such a nice week from Peyton, Slaton, Ocho Cinco even Devin Hester scored a TD
the Jets D caught a break playing a scrimmage
3 Players left ... 14 points needed ... Matt Prater is on a bye, I have to pick up a kicker, Sweezum Shuisiam what ever the fuck is his name is available... all the skins do recently is kick field goals .. I start him
Chris Cooley: Top 5 TE, he gets the weekly start...... He gets hurt after a nice start
Clinton Portis: My Mistake... I know I suck, but he was still left over in the 4th Round...
Jim Zorn and the Hapless Redskins screw me again, 4th and goal at the 4 YOU NEED 3 SCORES INCLUDING A FIELD GOAL..... They go for it and fumble the snap
only 13 points, I lose I get nothing good day sir

this worst head to head loss came where I had Brees and some 1 else had Shockey and Saints D
I was up 4 points 119-115 w 2 mins left MIA-NO
we both had no 1 else playing on sun and mon night
miami throws a int returned for a TD (6 pts) and 122-119 it is

My take on Campbell Vs Cutler.
From a fantasy football view.
This season I had D Hester. WR Chi.
And S Moss. WR Was.
I dropped both.
Reasons
D Dester
Chi spread the ball around to something like 8 targets.
S Moss
He never got the ball. Even though he is a prime target.
You figure it out.
