There is NO WAY I could root for an organization like that.
Maybe you can.
I can't.
You were rooting for a team from Cincinnati. What did you expect? That's like rooting for a Cleveland team and being disappointed.
Snoogans

NINE members of the Cincinnati Bengals were arrested in a 12 month span.
One of them 4 times.
Their GM and head coach said there was no discipline problem on the team.
The one that was convicted 4 times (the final one was underage sex with a Cincinnati high school girl) was Chris Henry.
The Bengals announced he would NEVER play for them again.
During the exhibition season, however, Houshmanzadeh and Ocho Cinco went down with injuries.
Guess who they ran and resigned?
There is NO WAY I could root for an organization like that.
Maybe you can.
I can't.
My allegiance to a jersey and helmet ends somewhere.
They found my breaking point.
Sorry if you can't accept that.

As you pointed out in the baseball thread, I haven't stopped rooting for the Reds.
And yes, there have been Red Wings who committed crimes.
Bob Probert comes to mind.
He did jail time, was heavily fined and suspended, and eventually gotten rid of.

The better question is how many people actualy think he stopped rooting for the Bengals?
Nobody.
Any Bengals player having sex with a high school girl is just an extension of his bias against women above the age of 21.

so gvac is a man who believes in not giving 2nd chances? But you root for a team in which the manager did maybe the worst thing ever for the game. Is that really better than a guy who got arrested with some weed in his car?

I'm all for 2nd chances.
If management comes out, holds a press conference, and says there is no problem, however, I don't think that's an organization that has any grasp on what a "problem" is.

One last analogy -
You marry a girl when you're young. She's a struggling actress. For 32 years you are as loyal and supportive a husband as you can possibly be. You stand by her side through thick and thin. She gets a few big roles, but never breaks through.
After all that time, however, she changes. She's become a bitter, nasty, evil person who does some truly awful things, both morally and legally.
You decide that this is not the same person you married and you get a divorce.
5 years later she finally gets her big break and wins an Oscar.
Do you think you suddenly want her back?

Football is a great game, but as I've stated, my interest has waned since I no longer have a real rooting interest.
I'm surprised.
I thought I loved the game a lot more than I apparently do.
Without worrying about how each game impacts the Bengals, they don't seem as interesting or exciting to me.
On the other hand, I can watch just about any hockey or baseball game and love it, whether it has an impact on my favorite team or not.
For example, I can watch two American League teams play and enjoy it, despite the hideous DH.

I hope they keep trading them because Angelos doesn't know what the fuck to do with any of them before the 3rd round. Trade for and sign the players we need because they're not gonna come out of the draft.
If there is a lesson to be learned here, it is do not ever let an Angelos anywhere near a sports team.

Losing teams lose in part because their coaches don't take chances. It shows no confidence in the team or their play calling and it effects everything else.
It's like when a one win team punts from the opponents 45 when they're down 21.

I don't even come close to agreeing on that one. Until VY came in, it didn't mean shit overall in terms of wins and losses so that takes away from him in my mind. I don't think you can dismiss the amazing years some awesome Qbs are having around the league, but I guess you can if an artificial stat line gets broke versus team results in the end.

Its not that cut and dry. Favre is having a great year, but hes on a great team. A team that had a stud RB and a great defense. They just needed a decent QB that wouldnt lose it for them. Brett has done that and more, but hes not carrying that team.
Brees has a more compelling argument, especially since they are undefeated, but I just cant see giving it to a QB that has a great year over a running back that puts up over 2100 yards. No way. The fact that they were 0-6 makes it even more impressive because when your team is playing from beghind they cant run the ball as much.
Would you give it to Trent Dilfer? I mean he quarterbacked a team to a Super Bowl title.

No I wouldn't bc he wasn't the most valuable even on his own team. That's the point here, CJ got a TON of garbage time yards as well, bc they in fact DID hand it off with the likes of Collins behind center. Also, you take out Brees, Manning or Farve right now and I'll show you three teams not even making the playoffs. They handle the ball on every offensive play and these three are clearly a step above even the next tier of QBs.

Well it wasn't what I think you're assuming. He was commenting on Beli first trying to show he's a rebel and validating his going for it on 4th in the past by doing so again when he had a shot making the score 31-20 with an easy FG. Calling it yet another bad choice and ego driven. He also called Brady's pick and the fact he didn't return to the game the equivalent to your little brother flipping a board game and all it's pieces bc you're not winning. With 5 minutes left he felt they pulled the qb too early, but others argued that it was more the fact that they respected just how amazing the Saints were playing and put up the white flag. Still, Young didn't respect that either from the New England Patriots, and Bruschi wasn't really having it.

Kicking looking very suspect tonight in the dome.
Think it may have to do with the fact that the over / under was 57 1/2? I dont care what anyone says, to a certain extent, football is fixed.

Well, that's just ridiculous. They weren't going to beat the Saints by going for FGs.

Brees, Manning, Farve.....who gets the MVP so far in your mind? Any others? CJ?
An article on the very subject. Early, yes...interesting debate, of course.

Also, how can a pro athlete not know how to slide properly? Sanchez is retarded.

The Dolphins dropped this Def guy Roth (inj. Supposedly )
Some other team gets him & his first game is kick ass.
Must have been a falling out. Maybe with the tuna.
