View Full Version : Matt Pinfield Checking into Rehab
This week I've been driving my boss's truck to and from work so I have no XM until I get into the office. The only station on terrestrial radio I found tolerable is the NY rock station 101.9.
Anyway I heard Matt Pinfield announcing he's taking a leave of absence to go to rehab...
I was never a diehard fan of his, but I always liked him in whatever he did. Not sure what his poison is, but I hope he gets the help he needs.

Yeah I heard that this morning. He's good, a real knowledgeable music guy who will always have a place in my heart from the old 106.3 FM days. That was a kick ass station and he programmed it. Did he by chance mention what it is he is hooked on?

Nah he just said he has some demons to deal with, they didn't allude to booze or pills or coke....

I started listening to his show recently and I like it. He seems pretty down to earth and knows a lot about music.

Hell yeah he's been around for years... I think that was the last time I ever watched MTV.

Few years ago some buddies and I went to a Velvet Revolver show at the Hammerstein. Hanging out in front of the venue eating some pizza before the gig and he just walked over to us and started bullshitting about the show and music in general. Real cool guy. Hope everything works out for him.
120 Minutes was the only show I really watch on MTv. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
A memo from him on WRXP's web site
“I have been struggling with a dependency that I need to address, and so I will be voluntarily suspending my involvement on the 101.9 RXP morning show until I have completed the healing process. After a few recent slips from my path to health I feel it important to proactively address these slips to ensure that my life continues its positive momentum. I am so thankful to my family, friends, fans and co-workers here at 101.9 RXP who have provided me with such a deep support system and I want my fans to know that I am well and hope to return and continue what I have started here at RXP.”

Huge supporter of Matt's.
I went to Rutgers form 91-95 so I would listen to him 5 days a week on WHTG, watch him on MTV's 120 Minutes every Sunday night, and he would DJ at the Melody Bar 2-3 nights a week.
Genuinely great guy who just loves rock an roll.
I wish him the best in finding peace in his personal life.

Meh. I've always liked the guy. He's knowledgeable and what he did with the fired jocks from 923 was crazy respectable.

iPod my man. Put the music you want on it and just listen to that. XM for Ron and Fez and O&A only and the occasional music station but it's just another kind of radio station.
I haven't turn FM on since O&A got booted. And even with that I haven't turned a FM station on for music in months. Only time they get me is when I'm in a company car.
