those butcher's hot dogs always have
a skin that is too thick and tight
when your teeth finally break through it
hot juice splatters all over your face
wow
that was hot
no natural casing is that thick! get a new butcher or best yet, consult drjoek

HAHA very funny mother fucker - I work for Maple Leaf, and I come here to avoid the mess that is our professional life in these "post lysteriosis" days.
Oh well, looks like I have lost my last "happy place" :(
But if your looking for a good dog, you need to get your hands on some Schneiders Juicy Jumbos - onion & cheddar. We make 'em, and GOD DAMN are they good. I have to avoid the daily taste panel to keep from ballooning up and ending up on a TLC special.
And best of all, they have NOT been recalled :)

The magnificent hot dog served by Rutt's Hut is known as a ripper because its skin tears and crinkles when it is deep fried. The oil bath turns the pork-and-beef link rugged, dark, and chewy on the outside, while the interior remains soft and juicy. With mustard or spicy-sweet relish, this is one of America's great hot dogs.
Like 'em well-done.. try the CREMATOR
(and get the onion rings with it)
SO CLOSE TO THE STUDIO
THEY SHOULD SEND AN INTERN OVER

My wife always puts sautéed cabbage on her hot dogs (actually first on the bun). My mother in law did it for me this morning too...must be a Japanese think. It's really tasty and adds a crunchy texture that you don't normally get with a hot dog.
I also really like the Chicago style dog Shake Shack does ("run through the garden").

I had a hotdog in the Antwerp train station last week and it was fucking GREAT!!!!!
They used a different bread, more French-bread like but not quite all the way. The guy looked shocked that I didn't want mayonnaise either. Just light on the ketchup and loads of spicy mustard with a few onions, I told him. It was great. I then went on to tell him that, "...Mayonnaise is the Devil's semen," but he didn't understand. My buddy got a nice laugh though.

I'd rather have the Devil's semen than Satan's AIDS-infected Jizz spread any day of the week.
Did you guzzle DeKoninck Bollekes like a maniac? I would have.

We all went to the "Legendary" Rutt's Hut in Clifton NJ today to finally sample their deep fried dogs.
They were good. Nothing amazing; maybe I'm preferring Max's or Windmill more, but I didn't see it as a religious experience as some do.
We had rippers and in and outs. No cremators. The relish was good.
Did not like having to stand up to eat.

We eat in the dining room. They're chili is really good. If you order a chili dog the chili comes in a separte bowl and you have to pay separte for it. I go there once in awhile and get a qt. of chili to go and make our own dogs. We were suppose to go there today. Maybe tomorrow.

Rutt's Hut is the best hot dog place I've ever been to anywhere in the country hands down. I've been to many, many different places to eat and there is something about Rutt's Hut that can't be matched. Nowhere even close.
I am actually not a person who eats a large volume at meals but my usual order there consists of 4 to 5 rippers, an order of onion rings I share with whoever I am with and a birch beer.
I personally don't mind eating standing up but as stated above, just use the dining room.

Clarify for this west coast hayseed:
What's a ripper?
What's a cremator?
What's an in-and-out? (Cue the Clockwork Orange reference)
Deep-fried hot dogs? It seems like they would shrivel into a little mummy phallus and not be that good.

the dogs are deep fried in hot oil
rippers are when they are cooked to where the caseing pops
cremators are ones that have been in even longer
i learned that from the travel channel, so i could be wrong

When you pull into the lot there's an entrance on your left. It's a glass door.
There are two places in CT that Ron mentioned that do the deep-fried/North Jersey-style hot dogs: Rawley's in Fairfield and Swanky Franks in Norwalk. But they start off fried and then get thrown on the grill for a bit so I'm not sure if that's the same thing.
I've never been to either so I might give them a try the next time I head up that way.

Rutts Hut is ok they are not the best actually they are a little too greasy. One of my best friends is cousins with the owner and he agrees with me that the place is praised for no reason. Its like people say its great just to say its great and let others know they have been there.
The best hot dog in NJ is a Newark Truck. Tony's Hot Dogs in Newark by Barringer High School right in Branch Brook Park and Lake St. These hot dogs are so good because of their toppings. They are famous for their homemade hot onions. I usally hate onions on everything but these onions are so good, they arent over cooked they arent soaking in a red sauce. They are just cooked a little bit and made by the owners wife. This place is so busy that they close when they sell out of hot dogs. they open around 11am and are usually sold out of hot dogs, buns onions etc by 5pm. its a truck with 3 ordering windows and 3 people making the hot dogs and there are still lines 20 people long.
If you cant handle hot dont order the onions because they are really hot. I asked them if I could buy the onions for a bbq and they wouldnt sell them. I even said they can charge me the price of 20 hot dogs and just fill my container and not give me the dogs. they wouldnt do it.
Excellent, I want some now!

I used to go to that truck......until I found the other truck (Chris's Red Hots) on Heller Parkway on the other side of the park. Now those hot onions are way hot.

Dr. Heywood Floyd: I love a hot dog.
Walter Curnow: The Astrodome. Good hot dogs.
Dr. Heywood Floyd: Astrodome? You can't grow good hot dogs indoors. Yankee Stadium, September. Hot dogs have been boiling since the opening day in April. That's a hot dog.
Walter Curnow: The yellow mustard, or the darker one?
Dr. Heywood Floyd: Darker.
Walter Curnow: It's important.
