Oh, well. This is, I believe, a "golden moment" in the history of televised media. Sean Hannity had actor Charles Grodin on his show tonight, and the two men actually had some genuinely good natured sparring with each other over the news of the week. Hannity asked Grodin if he'd ever accept a book from Hugo Chavez or listen to a speech by a "brutal thug murdering dictator like Daniel Ortega." Grodin's respective ripostes were "I'd hand him my book!" and "I'd listen to anybody. I'm listening to you." Grodin then went on to ask Hannity if he was wearing mascara and if he had any plans to marry Ann Coulter. But that's not the fun part! This is the fun part:
GRODIN: You're for torture.
HANNITY: I am for enhanced interrogation.
GRODIN: You don't believe it's torture. Have you ever been waterboarded?
HANNITY: No, but Ollie North has.
GRODIN: Would you consent to be waterboarded? We can waterboard you?
HANNITY: Sure.
GRODIN: Are you busy on Sunday?
HANNITY: I'll do it for charity. I'll let you do it. I'll do it for the troops' families.
Obviously, this has to happen. For the troops, I mean! Not merely for my amusement! And, look, if Sean Hannity agrees to this, then props to him. That takes real guts. I mean, you don't see me letting people waterboard me, for anything. Mainly because waterboarding is crazy, terrifying and sadistic! But the salient point is this: In a world gone mad, can you really afford to NOT give money to the troops, if it means that Sean Hannity gets waterboarded by the star of the Great Muppet Caper? We truly are the change we've been waiting for.
(Oh, and later, Grodin called Hannity a fascist and repeatedly asked him what branch of the military he served in, the end.)
Will he walk the walk or will he just flap his gums?

Keith Olbermann was running with this for a while last week, he is willing to donate a 1000 dollars for every second Hannity lasts

Olbermann already offered up $1k per second to charity if he does it, but no response yet.

i wonder how big a pool we could collect to offer esd to get the waterboard on air?
i got $20 paypal toward it
Hannity seems to me like a guy who is so mindlessly invested in his argument that he'd do it and no matter how bad it is say it was nothing.

This tough-talking pussy Hannity would probably piss and shit his pants after 2 seconds of waterboarding, and be crying like a bitch for hours afterwards.
I hope he does it. It could be such a total debacle that it drives away a good chunk of the audience for talk radio, though the true believers would be left.

Exactly. He'll turn the whole thing into a circus and love every second of it.

Doing it is easy. Doing it and not crying like a bitch for your life is hard.
If he does it without cameras than it won't count.

My guess is that he'd get an "edited" session for his radio show only with no cameras.
i think getting waterboarded on tv with lawyers in the bg making sure everything is ok would be different than being captured by your enemy and not knowing what the fuck is going to happen to you.

1. Olberman has waterboarded people before on a show or something and it proved to be no big deal.
2. Why would Hannity do a hack morning zoo bit and give douche Olberman publicity?

made a post over at hannity's message board to get the nutz over there to start asking when's sean's gonna take the changellenge. go over to hannity.com and see if you can add to it LOL (i say act like you agree its not torture so Sean should step up to that commie Olberman). FYI i dont think Olberman is a commie.:devil2:
Why would Hannity do a hack morning zoo bit and give douche Olberman publicity?
Who's to say its gonna be hack? Let him be waterboarded by real professionals like Hitchens was. Since "its not torture" then it should be no big deal. And by the way...it's for the soilders as Hannity himself was saying it's not gonna give Keith publicity so much as gonna make Sean's words credible...which we know they wont be if its done by professionals.

If he does it I'd give him credit because itd be pretty ballsy. However, it can't emulate what the prisoners who were tortured went thru mentally because there was an uncertainty there that would be impossible to recreate.

HA! I guess they didn't like my question. Even though i was coming across like a right wing fool. They Banned me from Hannity's board.
You have been banned for the following reason:
hit & run contemptuous troll
Date the ban will be lifted: Never
how can one be a hit and run on 1 day and i was coming back to see what people say? I guess this means choice 2 is probably gonna be the way it ends up.
I hate both Hannity AND Olbermann. I with they'd make a competition out of this and both drown.

Here's a video of Christopher Hitchens being waterboarded. Hannity won't do it. He's a pussy and obviously doesn't want to fully support the troops.

He won't do it, but if he did, I imagine his response would go a little something like this...
"Yesterday, I answered Charles Grodin's challenge and experienced waterboarding. Believe me, it was no picnic, but at no point was I in any real danger. At the end of the 'enhanced interrogation techniques,' I was physically and mentally exhausted, but not harmed. If I was a terrorist intent on the annhilation the United States, I have no doubts that I would have given up my compatriots in evil."

Hannity is a blowhard and a douche bag. He will let it die and never bring it up again.
He will then continue his dishonest show like he always has.
DarkHippie

He won't do it. He's all talk and a coward. If he wants to prove me otherwise he should get down there and let them "enhanced interrogate" him.
Serpico1103
04-30-2009, 01:49 PM
Torture= enhanced interrogation
Death penalty= Early release for the soul
Carpet bombing= Civil restructuring
Its either proper interrogation or its torture.
The more important question is, no matter what it is or what you call it, is whether it is good for society.

If you watched the video of the two of them discussing it, you would be able to tell that they were joking with each other. It's amusing that you think Hannity should shut up, but you read the Huffington Post like it's some kind of reasonable/reliable news source.

Well, here's the deal with a guy like Hannity: he's in the business of punditry & holding people to their word. This holds true for blowhards like O'Reilly, Olbermann, et. al.
So when one of these guys slightly opens that door, they shouldn't be shocked when they get called on it. The nuance isn't the point, as the nature of their personal work often includes ignoring the nuance of others.

I did watch the video...he wasn't joking. And I say he should shut up because all his talk is bluster and isn't backed up with backbone.
Waterboarding isnt torture (to him) so why isn't he putting himself under it. Then he should shut up saying it isnt torture if he doesn't KNOW. When Experts say it is.
It's equal to someone saying (though not equal example i acknowledge that) "I believe SO and SO isn't a child molester"...and experts (witnesses, victims, chris hansen video tape) say so and so is a child molester. Then saying "i'll have my kid visit them unsupervised that's how much i believe it and I'll give money to vicitms of child molestation!!" then not sending your kid over.

No. My point was that the context of the conversation was two guys busting each other's balls on television. It was not serious. Anybody that thinks Hannity was serious about being waterboarded for charity based on watching his interview with Charles Grodin probably just got a fantastic fucking deal on a bridge.
That point was completely separate from the one where I said that the same people bitching about Fox News seem to think the Huffington Post is some bastion of responsible journalism.
Your reading comprehension skills could use some work.

I stopped reading wackbag because of pointless anger like this. Can we just have a discussion without resorting to these types of comments? This isn't the first time I've encountered this on this forum. It seems to be happening more recently and I really wish it would stop.
I don't know what Huffington Post has to do with this debate to begin with. I'm sorry, but it just seemed like you were trying to deflect the argument. Whether Hannity was serious or not, if it is not torture and is just "enhanced interrogation" or whatever nonsense they are calling it, why wouldn't he do it if it meant a lot of money going to charity? Don't you think that makes him look like a liar? If someone was going to give thousands of dollars to a charity I believed in, and all I had to do was be interrogated for a few minutes I'd do it in a second.

I'm not angry. You just ignored my whole argument (now for the 2nd time) and tried to boil it down to "Badmonkey doesn't like Huffington Post." I wasn't trying to deflect the argument. If anything, you're the one that seems to be trying to deflect the argument by ignoring everything I said except "Huffington Post". There wasn't anything hidden in either of my posts. No translation was needed. I said (for the 3rd time now) that it was not a serious challenge and you can tell that they were busting each other's balls. If you still think that the only thing I'm saying is that the Huffington Post is not a valid news source, then yes you do need to work on your reading comprehension skills.

I did not ignore what you said. Please re-read the part of my post that begins "Whether Hannity was serious or not..." That is a direct response to your assertion that it was not a serious challenge.
I don't know why you think the only thing I think you're saying is that the Huffington Post is not a valid news source. I can assure you, I do not think that.
