Quick questin about the iPod Nano 1g.

I have an old iPod Nano 1st generation that I have sitting around. I just charged it and it seems to hold a charge and it's always worked. So I'm going to give it to a friend who can really use music at work.

I want to buy him a cheap case for it because it's already pretty scratched up from use but I'm having problems finding 1g cases in stores. Does anyone know if the 4g ones I see in store will work for the 1g? I see the somewhat oval shape of the profile of the 4g but if it's a decent fit I'll just get one of those gel cases for it so it doesn't get banged up in his pocket. If not, I'll have to order one.

Anyone have any experience with this or suggestions?

4g ipod nanos are shorter and square. They aren't even the same shape. Just google it or check ebay or amazon.

It's much taller and thinner than it used to be.

Like others have said, ebay is your best bet. We actually tried this today with an extra case I got Amy for her new Nano that we put on her old one and it wasn't even close.

OK, thanks. I'd really like to get it before the weekend but now I know to steer clear of 4g ones. I knew it was slimmer but I didn't know the height was different. That will make sure a 4g won't fit it. Maybe I'll hit a Best Buy to get butt raped for one if they even have one. If not, then yea, I'll just wait. I saw very cheap ones that will do the trick on Amazon.

You can also try those sales people in the malls with the various cases at those mini stores between the shops in the middle aisles to see if they have it. Also give FYE a try.

Well I just got done ordering a 1g Nano case from Amazon. I went to Best Buy but they didn't have anything but 4g Nano cases. I understand the 4g is the new one but come on, nothing older?

I took Reef's advice and went to the mall. At least FYE had 2g cases but since I read that 1g and 2g are different I didn't feel like wasting money on a possible fit. There were a couple iPod accessory carts in the halls of the mall but none of them had anything for 1g either.

So thanks everyone for the advice but I should have just ordered online to begin with instead of wasting my time at a retail store. I should learn by now.
