Many of us grew up on MTV back when it actually had videos to introduce. Those personalities were actually important parts of your life as they would would get you your Duran Duran or Soundgarden fix.


Now those days are seemingly all but gone (on MTV at least). But who was your all time favorite?


I'll put some of the greats as a poll option and the rest you can write in.

That chubby guy who was the runner-up to Jesse Camp and still got a job with MTV, he knew his music, too. Plus he didn't look like he was uncomfortable wearing his skin like Pinfield.

Pinfield also gets HUGE minus points for being in a Limp Bizkit video.

Riki Rachtman gets my vote. He had good metal knowledge and got some great guests. The show he did with Alice in Chains at a water park in NJ is still the best thing I have ever seen on MTV. Runner up was when Rob Zombie was on the show just painting the backdrop of the show.

Matt Pinfield does get a nod for his job hosting 120 Minutes.

Oddly enough, I cannot remember a word she said she was just the hottest to me. I watched MTV for probably the first two years of broadcasting when they actually played music videos. Early 80's scholck, no wonder there were so many one hit wonders in the eighties.

Kennedy always struck me as the kind of woman who would casually tell other people embarrasing things about your personal life and not think anything was wrong with doing so (like that black woman in the Milk of Magnesia commercials). I'd love to spend time with her.

But, I have to give my vote to Matt Pinfield. Sure he looks like a big Bob Mould from Hüsker Dü, but he was the only MTV host that was up on the material.

I'd give some props to Rikki Ractman, but his stints on Loveline and WCW Mond ay Nitro were horrible. And, of course, metal sucks.
