I located a vista boot disk from my friends dell laptop. Will this boot disk work on my girls sisters hp laptop?
If so, will it set the pc up as now a dell pc? Like the start screen will say dell etc?

AFAIK, Dell's branded OS discs won't work in any other machines except dell... but I could be wrong. Give it a shot.

OEM disks in general on any PC (and on Macs, for that matter) often are keyed to check for a certain motherboard configuration, and sometimes will refuse to install the OS if that configuration is not found.

The major computer makers are notorious for making rescue disks only work on their branded system. There are cracks out there but if I told you how or where I could incriminate myself and/or get this board in trouble. A simple Google search might find the info you are looking for.:smoke:
