We also put out a box or two of overstock books from the last twenty years. Lots of good stuff there too. Other stores who take the day seriously will do different thinngs with it too. Find out if your local store is doing anything special besides the free list. Its always busy and it should be a fun day too.

I can't wait to get the blackest night book. I asked the owner of the local shop if he had read it yet and he said that it was great. The artist leonard kirk will be in the store on sat, I think I only have one issue he did the cover for, but ill be getting it signed. He also said there was going to be a shitload of door prizes to be given away. I can't wait for saturday.

I grabbed the blackest night, avengers, and gi joe for the free books.

I finished second in comic book jeopardy and won the dark tower: the gunslinger born hardcover.

And the best part of the whole day was leonard kirk. He drew me a batman sketch which is fucking awesome. Ill try to get a pic of it up later. He did at least 30 sketches for people in the store, all for free. And he took a list of what he couldn't finish today to finish at home then send them back to the store. I also had him sign my issues of detective comics from the face the face storyline which he did the art for.

So, all in all, it was a great day.

my favorite part of the day was the guy working in the store explaining to a 8 year old kid and his mother that Captain America is dead and Bruce Wayne is floating around limbo.

Went to New England Comics (my local) with my son. He had to have the Sonic Comic and he also got a personalized drawing of The Tick from the art director of the comic series.

Always a good time seeing new faces in the store.

We usually go to Midtown Comics because they just give you a big bag of comics if you show up. They open at 11:00 but we couldn't get there until 1:00 because we had too many weekend plans to deal with. By that point their stock was nearly depleted. The guy working the door said they had a ridiculous number of people this year, with over 300 people in line when the place opened.

We were able to hit up a couple of other places, including Jim Hanley's Universe, so we got a few things.

yeah, i love it. he was doing some great stuff today. a lot of people were getting wolverine sketches, a few hulks, a jay garrick flash, wonder woman and a few others. this was my other favorite that i saw him do:

it was really cool to see an artist do one of those in about 10 to 15 minutes. i could have stood there all day watching him draw.

We gace away stuff today and yesterday, making a Free Comic Book Weekend at my store. The overstock included half a box of Miller Daredevils, there was a stack of anime on tape, all brand new in wrap. We gave away two boxes of sports action figures too, as well as the mini figures we still had left from FCBD's of yore. We have an entire floor of stuff that is normally discounted every day of the year, for that area we doubled all those discounts. It was a very busy day, and a whole lot of fun. Today was pretty good too. Just giving those people who had forgotten about the day a chance at some of those books felt pretty good for all of us working. Good to hear that other stores made an effort and everyone who went looking had a good time.

Went to my local shop yesterday. Picked up GL and Avengers for myself and a bunch of kids comics for my niece and nephew (Cars, Archie, Sonic, DC Kids, etc.).

They also had 50% off all trades and hardcovers - picked up a bunch of Geoff Johns Flash, Catwoman: When in Rome on someone's recommendation, 1985, and one or two others.

I'm really not a Jeph Loeb fan, but I'm giving it a shot because I'm a masochist.
