View Full Version : Going to the beach today?

Screw winter and all this cold weather we have been having.
It's going to break 80 today and I'm headed to the shore.
I suppose I'll leave for Belmar in about an hour. Water will still be frigid but after spending the last few months frozen it should be enjoyable to sit out on the sand for a few hours.
Who's with me?

I was going to go but I was at the gym and my friends were telling me that Obama wants to fence in all the shorelines, like in North Korea, to make Kim Jong Il feel more welcome here. And I'm afraid that if I go today, Obama will fence out all the Christians on the other side of the fence.
Maybe I'll head to the nude beach at Sandy Hook.

pfft. the jersey shore is right down the road. peak air temperatures are not supposed to be until 2 pm, leave now and it will be perfect when you get there.

We were going to walk around the arboretum today but they are having some childrens' event so we are going to go next week instead if it's nice. Yard work instead.

We made it down there but it was freezing. The weather up until a couple of miles away was very hot. Windows were down in the car or the a/c was used. But then once we got there it was much colder than expected. The beach itself was even worse with a strong north wind making it almost unbearable. We weren't the only ones this happened to, it seemed like everyone had the same idea, they were all dressed for a day at the beach but like us no one lasted very long. We almost made it an hour before we had to pack up and do something else, it was just too cold to be out.
It was sad once we got back inland a little bit because the temperature was still hot.

I was talking to some friends and they told me that it's all Obama's fault that the beaches were cold yesterday. It's just anotyer way he's trying to keep us down.

f u!
we were prepared for colder, i knew it wasn't going to be 90 at the beach but going from 90 inland to being so cold that you needed a jacket, long pants, and a blanket just to keep from shivering took us by surprise.

Most likely true, but after seeing what Obama could do we retreated to the comfort of a country line dance bar in Watchung to be amongst my people and to reassure us that support was out there.

The temperature will be 10 degrees cooler at the beach than inland. There will be quite a bit more wind at the shore the wind is coming from off shore and will be cooled by the water which has a temperature in the 50s this time of year.
So..... Yeah

Hey, let's be fair, drjoek. Jezo has a lot on his mind these days. How can he be expected to deduce that the beach wouldn't have warmed up in less than 24 hours? That shit is complicated, man!

Naa, you're all just crazy. No one expected it to be that cold yesterday, which is why there were so many people there. Just an odd wind occurrence.
I bet there will be just as many people there today as well, having it be that cold was just strange.

Never underestimate the ability of mass stupidity.
What you should have said is, "none of these people WHO ARE CLUELESS ABOUT WEATHER OFF OF LARGE BODIES OF WATER AND LIVE NOWHERE NEAR THEM will be back again today."

Its not an odd wind occurance. Its called a wind blowing off a body of 50 degree water. We arent all crazy, we have all actually been to the beach. Even when the ocean is like 70 degrees in the summer, it holds the coastal temperatures a good 5 degrees below inland.
and here is another odd point. If you poured soda into a glass, it would be that temperature. If you pour it THROUGH ICE, it will get alot colder.
Picture wind over the water this early as it pouring through ice
