I can never find what I'm looking for on that fucking site. And when I search I have to dig through pages of the same fucking user posting a million of their product, usually not at all connected with what I was looking for, just to start to find search results I want to actually review.

I gave up on it months ago, was only on recently because a buddy forwarded me an auction he knew I was looking for, so he did the sifting through garbage.

I just bought some awesome shoes through ebay, although I was really specific when I entered the search data. You're right about the sellers entering a million of the same product though. I used to kinda browse on there occasionally, but now I just go if I know exactly what I'm looking for.

I love eBay with all of my heart and soul.
I got Sean a Blackberry for $35.00 and $4 shipping.
All new. Everything still celo-wrapped and baggied!

I am ebay's bitch.

I know you can find great deals on there...sometimes. I just don't feel going through pages of bullshit before I get to good results is even worth it.

He's being coy, but I bet those "electronics" are mastubatory in nature....

I still check ebay daily for stuff I am looking for. Mostly mandolins, some guitars and of course computers and electronic thaings

Rarely do I find a "deal". If you know specifically what you are seeking there are better resouces than Ebay.

Ebay anymore is just a clearinghouse for rotten retail stuff.

That's my main problem with them. I just don't find those amazing deals Ebay was famous for.

I'll just actually GET it instead of bidding and losing it. Maybe a couple dollars more, but I get it for sure.

I do that too. It has become too much of a hassle to deal with the bidding with all the "bidding" programs that exist to keep me one cent away from winning.

I lost many a bid by less than a dollar at the last second. When all is said and done I usually didn't get a "deal" if I won anyway.

yep. It's turned out to be the place where you will pay the highest price for your item sometimes.

A good example would be netbooks. There is no way to just browse them. 1st you go through like 3 pages of very commercial looking auctions that are from the same few sellers. They aren't selling them at deep discounts or anything, they're just there. I narrowed it to just New ones, same set of ads came up 1st. Narrowed it by brand, the assholes probably add the many different brand names to their description so it comes up with every search.

I am just looking for some good deals and I have to dig through bullshit.

Another good example is digital cameras. I went to Ebay to get a quick look, and forget it. You put in different brands and all you get are pages of fucking parts and broken cameras sold for parts. Pages and pages. Limiting the search results still bring up much of the same bullshit. I went to an actual selling site to get my camera.

I'm about done with Ebay.

Depends on what you're after I guess...I collect old radio.

query:
hammarlund -ad -ads -manual -manuals -capacitor

yields a bunch of mid- to over-priced old radios. There are no deals here.

query:
hallicrafters -ad -manual -manuals

yields the same thing.

Vinyl - 10 years from now will be huge. What about reel to reel tape? no clicks!

I haven't used ebay in years. I'm sick of hearing about that goddamn twitter. It gives me douche chills when grown men talk about tweeting or twit pics.

Ebay is not what it used to be, though it was great for it's time. As ebay evolved and spawned such sites as overstock.com (worthless refab shit) and other "bargain" sites they slowly became less influential. Now when I look at Ebay I just see a lot of generic shit, just a general clearinghouse.

The mailing lists that I am on now are

Amazon
geeks.com
buy.com
musiciansfriend.com

There are a few more but these seem to cover a lot of my interests.

did you punch in your zip and search "whores"?
did you localize your search?
Did you check "overstock"?

I hadn't sold anything on Ebay in a few years and tried to last weekend.
The fees went up, and when I tried to search for my own auction yeah hundreds of identical "List First" items pop up. Bummer.

Yea, exactly. You get these fucking auctions that they must have paid more for getting top billing over yours, and the individual member auctions are the ones I'm looking more for because most of the 1 few pages are official Ebay businesses that charge the same prices as stores anyway.

And I don't sell on Ebay but my buddy does and he's started to sell much less on it lately. His main concerns are the increased prices and how Ebay doesn't back you up when the buyer just outright lies about the condition of your product and you have to issue a refund or you can't sell. He sells on forums that deal with whatever he is selling now more than anything.

All the power on ebay has gone to the buyers... seller's can't leave negative feedback now and you can't list items if you have less than 4/5 stars on the seller rating catergories. I understand that they don't want people peddling garbage on ebay or being bad sellers, but a buyer can pretty much get a refund for any reason on any item. I guess it suits ebay to have more buyers than sellers.

The only time I buy anything on Ebay is when its something random (Like right now I need the HK Harry Kalas patch) and if I can be present when the bidding ends. Anyone that bids on an item with more then 30 seconds left in the auction is a moron. Im sure most of these sellers have multiple accounts that they use to jack up the price.

I usually throw my bid in in the last 20 seconds or so and bid high (like if the bids $30 and Im willing to spend $50, ill bid $50) because it only goes up to once you beat out the top bidder. So if his top price is $35 I win the item at $36 and he doesnt have enough time to outbid me again.

Its also a great place to get perfect replica Mitchell and Ness throwbacks cheap.
