I hope it's just another Predator movie. RR would make a badass Predator flick, and there's zero need to make it a remake or a reboot.

Eh, I'm not too worried about the script. Just have some badass fighting a Predator. boom, movie.

i don't have a problem with remakes if there has already been so many horrible sequels that had nothing to do with the original

so because AVP was so bad, they can do whatever they want with "Predator" and i'm cool with it. I felt the same way about Rob Zombie remaking "Halloween".

Remakes and reboots are always a bust.
BUT..... I think Rob Zombie made an excellent version of HALLOWEEN a couple of years ago. That one, IMO, is a cut above. It was a solid, creepy pic with a genuinely creepy tone.

Agreed.

I'm excited about the new Trek.
I loved the original series. Never got into TNG, DS9, or whatever but, this new version looks fantastic in every way. Can't wait.

i saw they put the trailer for the sequel to his Halloween and i realized i never saw rob zombie's first halloween. I'm a fan of his films though..did they ever release it on DVD? I never saw it on cable

but even the concept of remaking "Halloween" didn't bother me because there are so many shitty "Halloween" movies anyway. Its not like it can soil its name

I am bothered by the "Nightmare on Elm Street" remake though because that series was pretty decent (even the cheesier ones) and always having Robert England as Krueger was a constant that they are fucking up. Hes one of the few maskless villians in the horror franchises

The special edition DVD is unmatched.
Rob Z takes these DVD's releases quite seriously. THE DEVIL'S REJECTS came with a 2.5 hour documentary on the making of the film that is, seriously, as educational as going to film-school.
The HALLOWEEN documentary is 3.5 maybe 4 hours long. But it's not "padded". It's all gold. Everything in there is informative and thoughtful. He really breaks down the film making and decision making process. Great stuff.

The movie itself is a solid little piece of horror. I'm not at all a fan of the genre but, RZ's films have such a real, creepy, dirty, unsettling tone that I put them on a different level than most of the tripe that passes for "scary movies".

Thread derailed. Sorry folks.

The latest on the Predator film from Nimród Antal, is that they are going green. Jungle green, that is — forest locations in Hawaii are being scouted, which could mean another MacGyver-ish human-versus-beast showdown.

According to a local Hawaiian site the Predator location scouting is under way.

Scouts for 20th Century Fox's $40-million creature feature are back on the Big Island for their third week of scouting Hawaii most of it where a lot of jungles have been looked at. The production would film for 18 days with an October start if the Hawaii portion is a go. That decision is expected to be made very soon…Some Hawaii production execs are being contacted about availability…

This is just further proof that Robert Rodriguez and Antal are serious about getting back to the roots of the series . So don't hold your breath for an outlandish Alien Versus Predator-style showdown — this film may be staying classy, and stripping it down to the bare essentials. Of course, judging from some of Rodriguez' recent statements, that jungle may be on an alien planet, so it won't be exactly the same as the original.

Maybe if they have someone wanting to use thermite paint on the Predator.... it could get interesting.

From MTV Movies Blog:

So the word on the street is that Danny Trejo, frequent Robert Rodriguez collaborator and star of the upcoming "Grindhouse"-inspired "Machete," is heading to another Rodriguez-produced project — none other than mother-loving "Predators."

Punch Drunk Critics caught up with the actor over the weekend at HorrorFind Weekend, where Trejo claimed that "we" start shooting "Predators" in about a month — the "we" presumably meaning himself, Rodriguez, director Nimrod Antal and whoever else is still unmentioned for roles in the film.

Needless to say, this is absolutely awesome. Trejo could be a fantastic spiritual successor to "Predator"'s Billy (Sonny Landham), a more-than-adequate replacement to Jesse Ventura's gruff-and-tough Blain and — dare I say it — a leading man with a presence to rival even Arnold Schwarzenegger's Dutch. Indeed, Trejo joining the "Predator" franchise is easily one of the greatest bits of movie news I've heard in recent months.

Great movie! A worthy sequel to the original.

The characters were great, the Predators were bad-ass, and we learned more about their culture. Great action scenes too. Totally worth the price of admission.

really??!?

ur one of the guys who I respect their opinion on here, are you sure?!

I'm really skeptical this could actually be a good flick. I realize it's a sci/fi action flick, so I know what to expect, but man this just looks like crap to me.

I thought it was somewhat shaky. I had fun watching it at the time because I saw it with my brother, and we were both big fans of the creature growing up, but the more I thought about what happens in the film afterwards, the lower my opinion of it became. I felt the same way after this as I did after Indy 4, to be perfectly honest.

The earlier scenes of suspense and intrigue I was really into, and I thought the odd casting choice of Adrien Brody really paid off, but the more the title creatures got incorporated, the weaker the movie seemed to get. When Laurence Fishburne showed up halfway through to occupy what ultimately reveals itself to be a rather thankless and baffling cameo, the movie seemed to really plateau, when it should've been building to a crackerjack conclusion.

In the first two films, the predators were very sleek and ninja-like, and this new one carries over the AVP design touch of having them be clunky, bulky, blockheaded, and ungraceful. How are they supposed to move around this jungle with total stealth when their bodily features are so cumbersome? They didn't look like they could walk up a steep hill, much less climb a tree. I also think it could've been explained more clearly why there were different predator factions on the planet who were at odds with each other.

Rodriguez really should've directed it himself, because the inexperience of Nimrod Antal really seemed to stick out when it was time to ratchet up the action. I also didn't like the overall look of the film, which was very flat and ugly. And I always hate it whenever a sequel spends too much of its time paying homage to a seminal original. March to the beat of your own drum, for better or worse, and stop giving me elbow-nudging reminders at every turn about your predecessor's classic moments. We're all there because we loved the original, now show us something that honors its legacy without replicating it.

I liked it. Some of the reviews I've seen called it a solid B action flick, and I agree. It wasn't over loaded with CGI and over the top action that dillutes so many movies these days. It had good action and suspense, and was, like I had said, a worthy sequal to the original. Have you watched the original lately? It too, was a solid B action flick.

I can see how some people felt some parts dragged, but I enjoyed the whole "hunters are now the hunted" feel to the story.

It is a sequel, but it's also a reboot, as the end will show, if there is a sequel, then there will be a major battle storyline.

Overall, it was a lot of fun.

Ah, but there was one thing I did not like - that I fell for a marketing ploy, as Rodriguez has admitted himself, that a scene in the trailer did not happen in the film. Rat bastards.
