My actual answer is The Dana Carvery Show. Utter brilliance, only lasted 8 episodes but probably has the greatest cast of writers of any show in the past 25 years.

The writing team included Charlie Kaufman, Louis C.K., Dino Stamatopoulos, Spike Feresten, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, and Robert Smigel.

Boy did I watch too much TV growing up. Remember the episode where the dad got a gun for protection and it was an Uzi and he thought a robber was in the house so he jumped out of bed and shot but it was actually the dog but it was ok cause the dog caught the bullet in his teeth?

Téa Leoni and a David Byrne song as the opening theme.

I'm gonna give Tub some credit on this one. That show was really intellectually based and from my understanding became a cult favorite in England.

Kudos to you for enjoying the Ned Hermann brain dominance model (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herrmann_Brain_Dominance_Instrument)in action.

oh, and that "Married With Children" spinoff with Matt LeBlanc!
There were two Matt Lablanc "Married... with Children" spin-offs. The first one was "Top of the Heap" where his father was trying to get him to marry a wealthy woman. The second was "Vinny and Charlie" (or something like that) where Lablanc and his friends hung out and did things. I didn't watch many of the second spin-off because it was on Saturday nights, and I had infinitely beter things to do.

Drexell's Class, with Dabney Coleman and Jonathan Winters!
One of his daughters was on "Son of the Beach" the other was Brittany Murphy.

I remember an episode where the older daughter participated in a beauty contest and her talent was pitching. For some reason, Steve Garvey was a judge in the contest and was almost struck out, when on a 0-2 pitch Garvey destroyed the ball, shattering her chances to win the contest.

Seriously... MURDER ONE is my favorite television series. It isn't "one of" my favorites. It is easily my #1 all time favorite.
They tinkered with the cast and the concept for the 2nd season which was quite good... but not great.
But holy shit, that first season was fantastic.

Great cast. Great concept. Great "gimmick". Great acting. Great music. Smart smart stuff.
