Best American Idol alum

I was thinking about this earlier and I think there are only really 4 candidates if I'm not mistaken.


Jennifer Hudson-
Pros: 7th place in season 3, she won an actual Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Dreamgirls. Also won a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Won a grammy for her debut album. Performed at the SuperBowl. Had roles in the Sex and the City movie (apparently) and The Secret Life of Bees.
Cons: Definitely has an acting career but her music doesn't sell that well. Oh and uh, like her whole family was murdered. That has to count against her.

Carrie Underwood-
Pros: Season 4 winner whose debut album was certified seven times platinum and is the fastest selling debut country album in Nielsen SoundScan history. 2nd album has sold almost 3 million so far. A shit ton of Country Music Awards. Pretty fucking hot.
Cons: Its country.

Kelly Clarkson-
Pros: 1st season winner, Clarkson has sold over 20 million albums worldwide which is a staggering amount in todays industry. The highest selling Idol winner. Eight of her singles become Top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Seems to have a modicum of artistic integrity.
Cons: Can't think of anything clever. Got a little chubby?

Clay Aiken-
Pros: Season 2 runner up, Aiken has launched eight tours, authored a New York Times best-selling book, starred on Broadway, guest starred on numerous TV shows. Multi platinum recording artist. Doesn't have the greatest voice but gay icons have long careers. He could probably go to Vegas and be a draw for years.
Cons: Gayer than gay. He may have a career as a gay icon but that probably won't equal multi demographic success like all the other post-Idol's.



I say Hudson. I think she's a multiple threat so she has more chances to be successful. What say you?

Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson may be more talented but you cannot escape Carrie Underwood, at least in Texas. She's a powerhouse and has a great voice!

I prefer Clarkson to all of them though.
