Queen Latifah has opened movies before, nominated for an Oscar, in a Best Picture winner, seems like she will have a good 15-20 more years with roles Whoopi used to get. She's legit.
Mos Def. Just see Something the Lord Made and tell me he's not talented. Golden Globe nominee, worked with Spike Lee, Michel Gondry, has 3 more flicks in production, Rondell the Black Delegation Rep.
I think Common can be really good, something about him. Method Man was great as Cheese.
I guess if you count Will Smith or Marky Mark its a runaway.
Who ya got, yo?

Wahlberg totally.
Meth is great as well, though. And RZA was good in American Gangster.

what, no poll?
i'm gonna go with mos def
will smith can be a great actor, he just usually chooses the bigger popcorn movies over the oscar worthy roles. i remember seeing him in six degrees of separation & being like "holy crap that's the fresh prince!"

oh & i do like common a lot too, but that just might be because he is pretty to look at. the only thing can remember seeing him in was smokin' aces & he just played it quiet cool. so it wasn't much of a stretch i don't think.

I thought about making it a poll but there's too many choices. Let people count.

Bad flick but I agree, I liked him in that as well. He's great in STLM and even the comedic turns on Chappelle Show.

I thought the movie was good, but he was TERRIBLE!
The voice and the cakes......just stop it already.
He was phenomenal in Something the Lord Made, but the performance in 16 Blocks was garbage.

OOF, that reminds me..I saw Kid from Kid n Play in a really shitty movie Saturday before last: War of the Worlds 2 on SciFi...He ain't a kid no more but still has the same hair...
Tone Loc was great in Surf Ninjas and Ace Ventura!...albeit..I think he killed a tv pilot recently..a crime show.

I think it's Cube. He's not the best actor but he went from social pariah to opening childrens franchises.
And god help me you may need to consider Durst, who seems to be able to generate a little heat as a director.

Bobby brown in ghostbusters 2. I think you have to say will smith. I can't tell you how many times I left a will smith movie thinking, " what a great actor, but man I wish his character was more complex."

For some reason I don't count Will Smith because I think of him more as an actor than rapper.
I'd say Mos Def and Ludacris (Crash specifically).

Ice Cube is hilariously horrible.
Ice-T is decent.
If only Donnie Wahlberg had done more rapping than crappy singing(NKOTB), then he would be my choice.
Will Smith can be funny at times.
My vote goes to The Fat Boys.

"Heat" is being generous. Any of the reviews of his new movie that I've seen seem to either be "praising" him by saying that he didn't fuck up or that he was competent.

Tupac was really good in Gridlock'd. The movie itself is pretty goofy, but I remember being surprised at how good he was in it. Hell, he took the movie away from Tim Roth. That's pretty impressive.

He was easily the worlds worst person and now people are handing him movie checks and not trying to bank on his name recognition. Thats an insane leap. Atleast if he were an actor he could be dismissed as a freak show gimick but this is a position of some respect, and he's allowed to do more than token vanity projects.

He was alright in Monsters Ball and Made. Emmy nomination for Raisin in the Sun.

Donnie was my favorite. So dreamy. If there wan't a black guy around I'd go for the wiggers.
