In Chris Stanley's defense - I always thought a hipster moved to Brooklyn (or NYC, but only if the 'hood was close to the Williamsburg Bridge) from some fucking hayseed, western town. I've never met a hipster who was from here. They flock here because they feel they're misunderstood back home, or the think they're gonna land sweet art jobs.

A hipster is just a person who is more of a hipster than you. So anyone who is more of a hipster than you is a hipster asshole, and anyone who is less of a hipster than you has no taste.

I think Chris Stanley is comfortable with his exact level of hipster. I dont think he would cop to liking Phish if he was super worried about his scene points, he would've said Man Man or something.

Hipsters work hard on looking unkempt yet stylish, Pepper looks like he really doesn't give a shit what you think.

Hipsters pretend to like music that is supposed to be smart even if it sucks. Pepper has said that he doesn't like TVOTR, which is a mortal sin in the hipster world.

Drinking PBR is not, in and of itself, hipsterish. It's the intent behind the act of drinking it. If one drinks it because one actually likes the taste or is all one can afford, that's regrettable, but not hipsterish. If one drinks it, even though one can afford much better beer due to one's trust fund, to show how "down" one is, then it's a one-way ticket to Hipsterville.
