It's a nightmarish scenario straight out of the movies: A passenger is forced to land a plane after its pilot becomes incapacitated. But it became a reality for a passenger on board a plane over Florida on Sunday, and for the air traffic controllers who helped him land safely in what the National Air Traffic Controllers' Association called "an Easter miracle."

White later told the Naples Daily News that he has a pilot's license and has about 130 hours experience flying a single engine Cessna, but had never flown the larger, faster King Air.
The guy who landed it is actually a pilot.

This morning I pulled my wife's car out of the garage. I didn't break off the mirrors or nothing. Where's my fucking human interest piece CNN?

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Now it's no longer a miracle story, it's just lucky a man with fly time was able to take instruction on a larger plane. WE WANT THE MIRACLE WE WERE PROMISED!!!

Dude, aren't you paying attention? Let me be more specific: my wife's car is an SUV - there is VERY little clearance between the side mirrors and the garage opening. I backed that fucker out of there for her like pro. Where's my fucking parade? Why isn't Good Morning America calling me?

i've always imagined that i could land a jumbo jet if some sort of Airplane situation occurred. plus, i've seen Executive Decision several times, so i have plenty of training.
p.s. not at LaGuardia. those runways are only 100' long.

No, not always. My wife and I flew on a 8 seater from Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas once and there was only one pilot. It wasn't until we were in the air that I realized that if this guy had a gripper I was going to have to land that plane.
About 4 or 5 years ago I read a story where that exact thing happened. The guy landed it in Miami and he had absolutely no pilot training.
I definitely think I could do that too, because I'm awesome at Galaga.

When we flew from San Juan to Vieques, there was no co-pilot. One of the passengers got to sit in the seat.

Don't men land planes everyday?
Don't most flights have a co-pilot on them?
They did, but he was sleeping. Nobody wanted to wake him up. The true heroism was the crew letting the co-pilot get a few extra minutes of sleep before touchdown.
This story is a little bit like the "man pregnant" story from a couple of years ago. Only, that one was written to mislead you into thinking the person having a baby was not a woman. This was leading you to think the man landing the plane was not a pilot.

I have often said, that if pilots became incapacitated on a plane, I would lie about my credentials to get on the stick. REASON being, I dont want another untrained person in control of my fate. If i fucked up and died killing everyone fine, I dont want another to kill me.

how does the hero describe his wife and kids actions on the plane?
The wife kind of trembled and shook the whole time, and the youngest daughter, Bailey, cried and squalled, and the oldest daughter, Maggie, vomited and threw up three or four times.

It was a private jet. The pilot was flying only this guy, his wife and his two daughters

I could do it. My buddy had Flight Simulator on his Apple Macintosh when we were seniors back in 1987-piece of cake then, piece of cake now.
