Which show do you prefer and why?

The British Office

Yea, British Office first but if we're talking the American, how can you not say 30 Rock?
The Office was at its best when it was just basically covering the original version. When it went past 30 or so episodes, it went downhill. I still find it funny and enjoy watching it but its not nearly as funny as 30 rock.

Right now, i prefer the 30 Rock.

Love both, but 30R is just so insane. I never want it to end wheras I want the Office to realize how finite it is, even though this season has been real strong.

The British Office
that pretty much goes without saying. i'm talking about NBC shows that are on right now.

i'll probably take any show on CBS Monday night over "The Office" these days. I think "30 Rock" is slightly missing a step by focusing more on Liz's personal life over working on the show but "30 Rock" is still a good show, i can't watch 5 mins of American "Office" anymore

I see The Office as the perfect lead-in to 30 Rock. The Office is a decent show and it's quite watchable, but if you're watching Thursday nights on NBC you're watching it for 30 Rock or at least you should be.

I thought it was OK. Not the best out of the gates, but it was solid and the show has such a good cast that I can't imagine it wouldn't get better. Aziz is already hysterical.

30 Rock just barely
I can't believe I agree with Hippo, but they are pretty damn close. I'd have to say it swings in favor of different shows season to season so far.
30 Rock is good, although I'm about five or six episodes behind right now, because I just haven't had time to catch up.
I pretty much gave up on The Office (U.S.) at the beginning of Season 4. It's pretty unwatchable at this point. But it did have three solid seasons...that's more than you can say for most shows these days.
Office (U.K.) is a masterpiece.

Seriously, you should give it shot again. The first part of the season was definitely weaker, but the current storyline is really strong.

I'm sure I'll be looking for something to watch this summer after Lost's season ends. I'll probably check out a couple episodes from this season then.

I agree with you totally.
The main problem with US Office is it has simply been on for too long. They don't have anything else to talk about, so now the storyline's are completely ridiculous. They generally have one GREAT joke an episode, and the rest of the shoe is zany hijinks.
I'm gonna give it to 30 Rock easily.

i just watched parks and recreation pilot on nbc.com. it was ok, her boss (i think the director) is the best character. "Bobbie Knight!!" aziz is funny too.
the thing is, with this show and the office, it just reminds me of those "special" episodes of mash, where the camera crew was there and they kinda acted like they were being taped so it seemed real.

To beat Ellsbury, he'll just have to play....it's not even a question. He'll get a decent amount of starts early, but look for him to get tons of time by May. Wait it out, it'll be worth it.

My biggest problem was that Michael went from functionally retarded (like David Brent) to retarded retarded.
It went from the original premise that he was a guy who was so desperate to be liked and awkward about it, to him just being completely stupid.

See, I don't think Brent ever seemed functional on any level when it came to his job. To me, that was always the biggest flaw of the UK version. The US version has always done a very good job of showing Michael to be someone who was and is an excellent salesman but is just all wrong for management. I don't buy that Brent could have ever been good as a salesman because he's so smarmy and so unlikable. Michael is stupid and awkward but there are still times where he is personable and you can see how he was so good at his old job. I love the UK version, but Brent never got anything out of me besides dislike and pity.

i have to agree with you - plus, if you had to choose one of them to be friends with, I doubt anyone would choose David over Michael.

I wanted to like the Amy Poehler show.
Unfortunately, it was unwatchable. I kept fast forwarding on my DVR.
I'll give it one more shot, but it's hard to watch another show where all men are dumb assholes and the women have hearts of gold, are harder workers and are always a little smarter in the end.
Quincy Jones' daughter should have her own show.

Although, you also don't think 30 Rock is funny, so your ability to grasp anything is in serious question.

I seem to agree :
This has to be the most intelligent show on tv right now, right?
The finale was perfect.
This show constantly reminds me of Arrested Development. From the stupid to intelligent humor, the constant shots at the republicans in charge, and the ever existing fear of being canceled at any time.

i think thats a big part of it. Early on it was trying to be like real people at a workplace, but the longer it goes on the more they have to give everyone personalities and expand on them and they are just annoying now. Every character on that show annoys me and they all feel so unrealistic. It was so much better when the background characters were just that, people to react to stuff.
